In our 59th episode we discuss the poor performance of PS3 exclusives. We also share a load of new tidbits about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (including the upcoming movie!) We also go over Capcom’s upcoming long list of PSOne games. Pacman discusses his recent purchases of Fight Night Round 4 and Call of Juarez 2. Frawlz attempts to tell us all about Extra Life 2009. We couldn’t have an episode without another heaping helping of ROOMAHS™.

Have you ever kept yourself up at night, unable to sleep, wondering what American Football (yes, I DO require the “American” prefix), would be like if it were played by fantasy races in an inconceivably brutal manner?
Well wonder no more! As Cyanide Studios have been generous enough to create a video game based on that very principle.
There’s an SG Review coming your way, after the touchdown!
In our 58th episode we discuss Activision CEO Boby Kotick’s comments about Sony’s platforms. We also discuss the awesomeness that is Ghostbusters on the PS3 (no, not that one, the other one!) Our discussions then meander through Final Fantasy, the PS3 Prototype install issue, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves dominating at Game Critics Awards and Brütal Legend’s choice of metal. For those geeks out there, we also discuss Free Realms and Afrika as well. Frawlz also reserves his spot in hell by making fun of… oh, just wait… it’ll be better as a surprise! We couldn’t have an episode without another heaping helping of ROOMAHS™ either and this time we decided to toss in a few user questions/comments afterwards!

Woahwoahwoahwoah woah. Big misnomer at the start, right there. Ignore the name, ignore the boxart, ignore the setlist on the back featuring the likes of Boston, The Who and Motorhead. Rock Band Unplugged is not a Rock Band title. At all. It just isn’t a Rock Band game. Go into your local gaming store with anything other than this in mind might put you off, and we don’t want that because it’s a brilliant game.
Got that lodged in your brain? Understood? Brilliant. Let’s crack on with this then, the SG Review of Rock Band Unplugged.
There’s an interesting feature over on Edge Online about independent retailers and their thoughts on the PSP Go and the simple fact of the matter is that they’re worried. They’re worried that the relatively small – but stable – stream of income that the handheld currently supplies will vanish when the digital-only console hits the shelves in October.
When Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was officially unveiled at Nintendo’s E3 2008 media briefing, many assumed that it was and would remain a DS exclusive. Even the official Chinatown Wars web site pegged it as such.
Though, as has become apparent, the word “exclusive” rarely means just that. Oftentimes, it means that a game – or piece of content – will be exclusive for a limited time only. Nowadays, companies are looking for bigger returns on their investments, and, as result, third-party exclusives are becoming increasingly rare.
It should come as no surprise then, that a PSP version of Chinatown Wars is currently in development at Rockstar Leeds, the same studio that handled the DS SKU. Rockstar North is also involved with the project.
Many of you are probably aware that the much-anticipated Ghostbusers: The Video Game has finally been released, and today Sarcastic Gamer’s own Havok Saunders did a great review of the title.
What you may not realize is that I also consider myself to be an amateur “Ghostbuster,” or “Ghost Hunter” as the case may be. This inspired me to present to the community a look at “Games vs. Reality,” from the perspective of today’s most popular Ghost hunting group, TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) from TV’s “Ghost Hunters.” For those of you not in the know, they have a very popular weekly show on Sci-Fi channel, now with its own “International Ghost Hunters” spin-off.
If you find this remotely entertaining, let us know! I hope to make this a regular feature on SG, to help keep us gamers grounded in reality.
In our 57th episode we finish our E3 2009 discussion by going into more depth on the Metal Gear announcements (MGS Rising and MGS Peace Walker) and the Agent announcement. Pacman schools everyone on the finer points of inFAMOUS and Prototype. The crew also weighs in on the PSN game Zen Pinball. We couldn’t end the episode without a heaping helping of ROOMAHS™ too.

Earlier this month at E3, Microsoft announced a tie-in with music-streaming service Last.fm for US 360 owners, allowing them access to loads of free music from their NXE dashboard.
That’s pretty cool for Stateside gamers, but what about us folks in Europe? Sony think they’ve stumbled upon the answer by creating a tie-in deal with VidZone, a UK-based website that lets you watch music videos online and, for a small fee, download the MP3 of the song you’re listening to on your cellphone.
Inexplicably armed with a marker pen and some paper, I decided to check it out. Here goes nothing.
After what seems like ages, Ghostbusters: The Video Game will finally hit North America and PAL regions next week. The game has been in development for roughly two years, which is, admittedly, a pretty normal cycle these days. However, to a rabid “Ghostbusters” fan such as myself, it is an eternity. Honestly, anything longer than a month is too long.
The game is a timed exclusive for Sony’s home consoles in Europe and other PAL territories, but it appears that Atari is providing Xbox 360 owners with a workaround.
We got to see so many things at E3 that it’s taking some decompression time to sort through it all. Truth N Justice, Harlequin and I got to sit in on an PlayLogic demo of Obscure II: Aftermath for the PSP. I found the name “Obscure” to be pretty appropriate because I consider myself fairly up to date on PSP games and had never even heard of it. Looking back, the demo was great, but for all the wrong reasons…
Keep reading to find out why it was so great… (more…)
I got to spend a little bit of time with Gran Turismo PSP at E3 last week and while I tried really hard to both play and record footage, the footage lost out so you’re just going to have to read about it. I think most people were pretty surprised when it was announced the game would run at 60fps. Seeing the game running first hand, you’d almost think it was running on a new PSP… it looked that good.
