David Jaffe. The man is a legend. If I could have lunch with one game developer, it would be him. Not only was he a creative force behind “Twisted Metal” and “God of War,” but he also has a propensity to say whatever is on his mind. The dude doesn’t pull his punches.
Jaffe has his own blog, which he uses to share his thoughts and to provide updates on his current projects. He recently posted some crude concept art for Eat Sleep Play’s (Jaffe’s independent studio) newest game, which has been confirmed to be a “Twisted Metal” game for the Playstation 3.

Sometimes I run across photos that don’t need to be heavily Photoshopped to be funny. Sometimes they’re perfectly funny the way they are. Today is one of those days as the first photo leaks of Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince of Persia. We all know video game movies have a tendency to, well… stink. Now, it appears that we have visual proof… (more…)
UPDATE: Brash wrote today to kindly ask us to remove this article, but we thought it might be better to set the record straight since our sources haven’t been this wrong in a long time.
Here’s the official word from Brash’s VP of Communications, Tiffany Spencer.
Typically I would respond by saying that we don’t respond to rumors and speculation, but to be honest, this is so far out in left field that I think we should just pull it completely. It’s 100% not true. Now that you have my info you have someone to go to for fact checking.
Wow, we weren’t just wrong about this, we were so wrong that Brash broke it’s own rumor and speculation policy to deny it. Duly noted.
Sorry Brash….. Apparently I was a little brash myself in reporting this rumor.
In fairness it WAS a pretty cool rumor, while it lasted.
The source for this information has been issued a demerit.
The plethora of upcoming zombie-centric titles creates a rather ominous feeling. It is as if the industry’s developers are preparing gamers for some sort of undead apocalypse. With “Resident Evil 5,” “Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop” and “The Last Guy” scheduled for release within the next year, gamers are sure going to have plenty of opportunities to hone their survival skills.
Perhaps no game will prepare us better for the brain-munching madness than Valve’s “Left 4 Dead.” Unfortunately for Playstation 3 and Wii owners, the game is currently exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC.
At the moment, people downloading videos, games and other content from the PlayStation Store do so using a direct connection to the servers at Sony. Ultimately, this means downloads can be on the slow side and can take an awful long time to complete (and that’s before the installation).
However, some news inside Gran Turismo 5 Prologue reveals that this might be about to change.

TheSixthAxis has our second Sony rumor of the day, but this one isn’t quite as exciting as the one we had a few hours ago. Y’know WipEout HD, that deliciously sleek futuristic PS3 racer we’ve been looking forward to for ages, the one that’s delayed?
We might have the reason for its delay, and it’s not a pretty one. Hit the jump for more.
Kotaku’s reported yesterday some rumoured specifications of the third iteration of the PlayStation Portable (not PSP2). Bundled with the details were some apparent photos of the new machine, and the whole thing actually looks on the good side of plausible.
Hit the jump for ‘photos’ and those ‘details’ in full.
Some huge news has surfaced over at N4G to do with the rumours of Microsoft’s own answer to the Wii Remote, pretty much confirming that yes, there’s a controller to be announced at E3 and you know what to expect.
There’s a bunch of articles popping up in the gaming blogosphere regarding Project Abraham, the apparent viral campaign for Resistance 2, on the PS3. As far as I can see, the video that appears on the website seems to involve a patient who’s infected with the Chimera (the aliens of the series) virus and is slowly mutating, with armed guards standing by just in case the medical procedure to save their life goes horribly wrong.
Eagle-eyed gamers will have already noticed the logo on the mildly-terrifying blondie’s t-shirt is the same as you see while waiting for menus to load in the original Resistance: Fall of Man, with this logo presumably being that of the titular resistance. Oh yeah, and she’s Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica…
What the hell is going on? Find out, after the jump.
CVG’s got a story about a couple of pranksters who figured they’d confuse Rockstar’s technical support by claiming to be able to play GTA IV on their PC. Writing with ’surround sound issues’ on the “free version of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC”, the jokers were pretty astounded to find tech support writing back to them with the statement that “The PC version of GTA IV has not even been announced for release and is still in development“.
Still in development? We never even knew it existed! Rockstar have been quick to deny every rumour of the PC version ever existing, but it looks like the technical staff of their own company have betrayed their privacy. Whoops.
Have a read of the full story for yourself right here.
At some point you’ll just have to trust us on some of this stuff. We have to protect our sources to keep them from being fragged by their employers or associates.
A very good and anonymous source tells us that Halo 4 is already in full development over at Bungie. (more…)
The folks over at Next Generation have done some digging at Gamespot to discover that Sony filed a couple of rather interesting patents under Phil Harrison’s name with regard to handheld device technologies.
The chances are, you’ve seen these patents used in other devices before. iPhone type PSP? More info after the jump.
