September 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Our very own codinthepocket from the SGC sent a couple of tips my way about some more bargains hitting the UK today. Blockbuster are flogging games on the cheap and Morrisons have put the prices of their SD cards down, which might be good news for the 4 Wii owners out there who actually make use of the card slot on the front of their console.

All the details can be found after the break!

Activision: Can’t touch this

April 14th, 2008 · 30 Comments

Pop Quiz: What should you do if you make a game that breaks records and sets the bar so high that it will take another entire development cycle for game-makers to catch up? If you’re Activision’s marketing director David Tyler, you brag your ass off. Speaking of the enormous success of Call of Duty 4, Tyler spoke to trade magazine MCV, including some words that were probably not too well-received at EA or Ubisoft. (more…)

Hand in the Cookie Jar?

July 1st, 2007 · No Comments

by Jeromy “Doc” Adams

This website, along with a host of others, expressed its incredulity at the 10 dollar price tag originally tied to the Player’s Pack Black Edition for Rainbow Six: Vegas. Less than 24 hours later, the Pack disappeared from XBL Marketplace entirely. Another day passed and it returned absolutely free! As someone who now has to wait 8 weeks for a refund, I have a couple of questions about this whole thing.

  1. Was this really a mistake? - The word free (or the number Zero) are quite different than the number 800 (MS Points) .
  2. Did MS and Ubi get caught trying to make a few bucks on what they thought was a slam dunk.
  3. Why is the Red Edition going free as well? Will I get a refund for that too?

Do you folks that were following this situation think that this was just a simple clerical error on the part of some digital stockboy? Or do you think Ubi and MS went too far and got caught with their hand in the cookie jar? Head over to our FORUMS and sound off!

Bend Over: Ubisoft Wants 10 Bucks for 3 Maps

June 27th, 2007 · No Comments

I have to admit. I didn’t think twice about ordering the BLACK EDITION expansion pack for Rainbow Six: Vegas last night. The game is my favorite ever. I love it. I would marry it if I could…. But I’m spoken for. (It’s complicated)

The last expansion, RED EDITION included a ton of new maps PLUS two totally new game modes.

But a few minutes after I forked over the 800 MS Points, I began to feel kinda used and dirty. That’s because there were just 3 new maps in this expansion. 3 maps. 10 bucks. $3.333333334 per map. Lunacy.

Do you guys think it’s worth 10 dollars for a 3 map expansion?

Tell us what you think! Head over to our FORUMS and sound off!
