Two weeks have gone by and the news on the MMO front is still lacking. Oh well, I’m here to give you my impressions on what I did manage to dig up, so let’s jump right into it. Be careful, though, it’s a shallow pool.
This week: The Lich King goes Alpha, Square/Enix is bringing the MMOG to mobile phones in Japan, and LotRo players will soon be able to start hanging fish trophies in their houses.

April Fools day always seems to take the breath out of the news of the week it lands on, and this year is no different. However, if you scrape the bottom of the barrel hard enough, you’re bound to find something.

Creating an MMO in today’s gaming market takes some big cojones. Were talking elephantiasis sized stones. The investment required, in terms of both time and money, is enormous. Anything less than total devotion to your product results in yet another MMO title getting its head handed to it by WoW.
For a time it seemed WoW would continue to reign supreme, but then news that WarHammer would be making its debut as an MMO shook the very ground of MMO players everywhere. Unfortunately, delay after delay continues to haunt the title.

It’s that time again. Time to go where no other Sarcastic Gamer dares to go. This week has been a disappointing one for those looking forward to Warcraft’s biggest rival, and it also makes my MMO choices for this fall a lot more difficult. Then again, those of us who are in love with Bioshock and World of Warcraft may have something to look forward to.

Despite wave after wave of MMO titles hitting store shelves and promptly dying faster than a canary in a poison filled mineshaft, developers continue to attempt to bring any successful franchise into the MMO sector of the industry. Following rumors that Call of Duty may one day become an MMO, it now seems that the Tom Clancy franchise may also attempt to become “massive.”
