Okay folks, I am one lazy-ass gamer: quick to temper, but never one to do anything about the object of my dissatisfaction. So what has prompted me to leave the comfort of my chip-encrusted sofa and come and rant on the internet to nobody in particular? Metal Gear Online, and those people that play it like it’s some sort of run-and-gun arcade game of yesteryear. This is not Warhawk or CoD4, it’s MGO. Like it or not, you’re going to have to work as a team if you want to get anywhere playing this game. Yes, you can play like you’re the only person that matters, but playing like that is ignoring the spirit of the game. To get that, you have to use one thing; teamwork. What is the first step towards teamwork? GETTING A FREAKIN’ MIC!!!

I realize that even though Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the best games of all time, some people won’t like it. No one will ever make a game that makes everyone happy. I understand that. What I don’t understand why people dislike the game. How can those that are mesmerized by the games’ awesomeness understand where the haters are coming from? I just happened to do a little research and discovered some reasons that someone would dislike it.
The shocking results, after the jump. (more…)

Dear God,
This is Doc.
I am writing to you to ask why I don’t like playing Metal Gear Solid 4.
You obviously had something to do with this game, as it is by far one of the most beautiful, cinematic, and stunning video games ever made. The graphics are nothing short of inspiring. The gameplay is smooth and deep. Even the cutscenes that everyone’s been complaining about are fantastic. I want to love this game, God. But sadly, for some reason I can’t, and I have deduced that you MUST have something to do with it.
Are you punishing me for (more…)

…in association with Konami. The appearances of an iPod and several Apple computers in MGS4 were just the start of a fruitful business relationship between these two corportate giants. More of these 100% genuine, SarcasticGamer.com-exclusive posters after the jump.

Oh look, you all sigh, it’s another news post about Metal Gear Solid 4, and the second one from silly ole Yamster. I’m going to be frank with you on my reasoning though; in my opinion, my review of MGS4 was a little bit wishy-washy. Since the story was such a huge part of the game, I ended up writing more about that than I did about the actual gameplay, and described more of what happens when the controller’s sitting on your lap than I did when the controller’s in your hands. Thankfully though, I’ve got a rescue plan, in the form of this review of Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer aspect of MGS4 which I genuinely consider an entirely seperate game in itself. And I’ve taken my own screenshots!
This time, I’ll get the balance right. On we go!

As anyone that has played a Metal Gear game knows, the story of each game is as much a part of the game as the actual gameplay is. Metal Gear games don’t have generic cookie-cutter story arcs either, they’re long drawn out complicated webs of story-telling, intertwined at multiple levels and throughout the multiple games.
For folks playing Metal Gear Solid 4, Kojima has ensured you can still play and enjoy it without having played the previous games or knowing the story, but it’s clear from the many references to Fox Die, the Shadow Moses Incident, and other “events” and characters that you might find yourself wanting to know more about the Metal Gear universe. Well folks, Kojima and Co. have you in mind with their latest treat. In today’s Playstation Store update, we’ll be given the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Database. A single application that will serve as the Encyclopedia Kojima-ca for all things Metal Gear.
Details, after the jump!

It’s Metal Gear Solid 4 week here at Sarcastic Gamer, or at least it seems that way lately. Well, here’s my two cents… I just finished MGS 4 and I’ve got to say… what a ride. In the end, the only criticism that really could be had with the game is that it gives you TOO much. The question then becomes, is that really a criticism? Too many weapons, too many ways to deal with obstacles, too many cut scenes, and the biggest gripe: that the cut scenes are too long.
Does any of that hold up, or is this the hands down contender for Game of the Year, so far…? Let’s check out the facts and try to be as SPOILER FREE as possible, after the jump.

I have had a chance to play the myth, the man and the legend that is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots. I love it. It’s beautiful, fun, but not with out it’s flaws. First on my list, are the installs, which needs a little work. There’s more than one and they’re not quick…

Here it is then: it’s the big one. The review to end all reviews, the end to end all ends, the something to end all somethings, I don’t know anymore… Anyway, I’m just dropping a little notice or two now: this review will have no spoilers, save for a small discussion of the opening sequence. None, nada, zilch, zip. Feel free to read on, safe in the knowledge that I won’t be mentioning any of the storyline, but I’ll probably mention some of the things that Konami wouldn’t let the media mention before the street date.
I promise that I won’t reveal anything that’ll ruin the plotline, so you can relax.
Onwards then, into the mega Metal Gear review!
