With “Gears of War 2″ and “Resistance 2″ shipping this week, it is almost guaranteed that many gamers will ignore a few of the lesser-publicized new releases. These titles might not benefit from television commercials and huge marketing campaigns, but they still deserve consideration when you are drafting your letter to Santa. “Monster Lab,” which is being developed by Backbone Entertainment, is one such title. Do you like peppermints, picnics and puppies? Well, then you might want to skip this one. “Monster Lab” is all about dinosaur-riding hobos beating each other with large sticks of beef jerky. Interested? Of course you are.

As a gamer who plays PS3 games more often than 360 or Wii games, I’m no stranger to the “Exclusive Downloadable Content Coming Only To Xbox 360!” for quite a while now. I mean the year’s most prominent exclusive DLC has to be Grand Theft Auto IV’s still mysterious two DLC installments. We’ve recently learned that both Fallout 3 and Tomb Raider Underground will also have 360-exclusive DLC as well.
I posed the question prior GTA IV’s launch asking whether or not additional missions would matter to gamers if those missions came so much further down the road as 2009. Remember, GTA IV was supposed to come out last holiday season and got delayed. Now, going into this holiday season we’ve got a new batch of games coming out with the “if you want DLC, go 360″ mantra being chanted. After watching this trend for a while, I’ve pretty much concluded that the idea of system specific DLC can actually trump the DLC itself in terms of value to the platform the DLC is on… find out why after the jump. After the atrocity that was Deus Ex 2, it looks like Eidos is attempting to resurrect this once great franchise. It looks like it’s coming out for the next-gen consoles (sorry Wii owners) and the PC, sometime in 2009.
I think I see five star reviews of the game on Eidos’ website already…
A Sarcastic Gamer satirical look at the GameSpotGate controversy.
Gamers from around the world stormed the offices of Cnet’s Gamespot today, setting fires and destroying everything in sight. The small contigent of police on hand to maintain order were simply overrun by the sheer number of angry nerds.
“At first it was like one guy with a sign,” said Gerald Fulton, one of the officers dispatched to try and defuse the situation. “But within an hour there were thousands of them. They were chanting Gerstmann, Gerstmann, Gerstmann. Then in an instant, they began to stampede.”
Within minutes, smoke began to rise from the Gamespot offices, and the sound of breaking glass filled the streets. Looters were seen leaving the scene with hundreds of copies of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.
“We would have tried to stop them, but it’s not like they were taking anything valuable,” said Fulton. “We were most concerned about the fire spreading from the Gamespot offices to the adjacent landfill. There are rare birds that inhabit that area, and it would have been a real shame if any of their habitat were to be damaged.”
When Eidos invited the guys and gals of the Gamercast Network to attend their pre-release Kane and Lynch Event, we were stoked. Originally Doc was the one visiting Eidos on behalf of Sarcastic Gamer. Due to scheduling conflicts, I was chosen to go in his place. Doc was really looking forward to going, so when he told me, I had to hold in my joy because I could see how upset he was that he didn’t get to go.
