Having JUST finished Mass Effect, I am totally stoked that Bioware announced its “Bringing Down the Sky” add-on for Mass Effect today. The DLC will run you about 5 bucks and appends the story’s plot with a whole new race of aliens, the Battarians. Apparently Terra Nova is going to get creamed by an asteroid and only you, ___ Sheppard, can stop it with your Spectre abilities. Officially the add on will give you about an hour and a half of additional play and will integrate with your existing character. Much like an episode that you can choose to watch…. or in this case play.
I’m about 7 hours into Mass Effect and I’m struck by one thing. Not the conversations or the combat. It’s the elevator rides. This game has the best damn elevator rides that I have ever played. Oh, it also has the most elevator rides in a game that I’ve ever played.
Yes, I’ve played Elevator Action. Mass Effect has more elevator rides than Elevator Action. Mass Effect has more up and down action than this website after the Digg Effect.

Many gamers were left in shock and despair last week as Electronic Arts announced that it had bought both Bioware and Pandemic Studios. Bioware, as you may know were the revolutionary team behind the Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate, and Neverwinter Nights series. Pandemic Studios were… some guys who made a couple of shooters nobody really remembers.
An unofficial poll taken here at Sarcastic Gamer indicates that Gamers are worried. Perhaps for good reason. They’re probably worried because the same company that notoriously re-releases a Madden re-hash every year, will now have free and unadulterated power to reign over their beloved RPG maker. It’s like a bad BDSM relationship, only with less leather!
