Rather than watching from the sidelines, Dave and I will be representing the Sarcastic Gamer community in sunny Los Angeles for E3 2008.  We’re flying out on Sunday and will be sending back photos, articles, video and even mini-podcasts from E3.

Laurent Fischer spent last week mending fences. Why? Well, as you may have heard, the managing director of Nintendo Europe made derogatory comments about Wii owners. Specifically, when he responded to questions about gamers clamoring for additional storage space said that only “geeks and otaku” would want additional space. Fischer, the genius that he is, obviously felt 512 MB was sufficient and created a firestorm amongst gamers around the world.

Fischer has since rescinded his “geeks and otaku” remark.

No kidding, HALF of the people at the Houston meetup were named John.  Dave and I got to chill with some great folks this evening, and since most of the arcade games sucked, we played shuffleboard.  ya.  Shuffleboard.

I am going to keep this brief as to mention anything would necessitate mentioning everything, and I know you’re too busy for that.

This website started exactly 1 year ago today, thanks to encouragement from friends at the Gamercast Network who have been incredible supporters of Sarcastic Gamer since the word go.

From there this site has snowballed into what you see today, visited almost a quarter million times a month by some of the most creative and inspiring community members anyone could hope for.

I want to thank the staff that started this journey with me, like Dave and Rothbart, and all those we’ve picked up along the way.

Dave, your tireless work to produce some of the best sounding podcasts in existence goes entirely too unrecognized.

Sean, if you’re a Sony Fanboy then I’m a Rothbart fanboy.  This site wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without you.

DDL, you’re an animal.  Thank you for redesigning the site on a whim, and for FINALLY figuring out what was going on with that F&*(*()ing category template.

Lono, you’re a beast, and I mean that in both a good and a bad way, but you are a true friend and an extremely talented personality.

To the rest of the amazing team, I truly appreciate your unwavering trust in me as we swam through this very difficult first year at sea.

So have fun this weekend, eating, drinking, eating some more, drinking some more, then piling all of your friends into your 95 chevy station wagon and heading over to the local watering hole to drink and play volleyball.
