Roomah: PSP2 is an iPod Touch

July 1st, 2008 · No Comments

The folks over at Next Generation have done some digging at Gamespot to discover that Sony filed a couple of rather interesting patents under Phil Harrison’s name with regard to handheld device technologies.

The chances are, you’ve seen these patents used in other devices before. iPhone type PSP?  More info after the jump.

SGC Blog: Console Fanboys vs. PC Fanboys

July 1st, 2008 · 18 Comments

Here’s another post fresh from the Sarcastic Gamer Community Blogs and two day in a row front page blogger, Toshi!. If you fancy getting onto the front page of Sarcastic Gamer, head on over to the forums, sign up for an account and get writing in your own personal blog. If it’s funny, written well enough or just plain awesome, it might end up right here. Another good job, Toshi!

I know that every method of gaming has its die hard fans that worship the ground their chosen platform walks on. While I’ve heard of the fanaticism of PS3 fanboys, I haven’t heard much about the PC fanatics. My first gaming experiences were on the NES, Genesis and SNES, but around that time I got my first PC. To some extent, I still am a PC gamer, even though the majority of my gaming is done on my 360. What I have a hard time doing, is understanding the finality with which PC gamers decree that their way of gaming is the alpha and omega of gaming. I’m open to hear people debate the reasons they think their gaming platform of choice is the best, but I’ve been rather let down by the oversimplified arguments of my co-worker, who is a die-hard PC gamer.

Let me touch on these arguments, after the jump.

Review: LEGO Indiana Jones (PS3)

July 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

Yes, I realize LEGO Indiana Jones isn’t as swift to be written as my MGS4 review was, but then again I didn’t pick this game up a day before worldwide release. However, I’ve got to say, right away, in all seriousness, with as much use of punctuation as possible, that this is the best game you could ever buy. If it were in a sale. A really good sale. A really good sale where you also had a gift card to use. And there was nothing else in the store.

Minor exaggerations to be sure, but it’s all good, as I shall explain in this little piece on LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. I’d make some kind of whip reference but the chances are I’d make it sound hugely inappropriate, so forget that: onwards!

The irony of the “Play”Station Portable

June 26th, 2008 · 12 Comments

As you might (although probably not) have noticed, I’ve not been here since the weekend, mainly because I’ve been down in London, far, far from the reaches of Sarcastic Gamer and the Internet in general.

Because I was, but one, among a group of 45, you can imagine that flying to and from London would be out of the question, which hence meant that I was faced with a 10 hour bus journey both ways rather than opting for the hour it would take by plane or the 6 hours it would take to travel by train. Naturally this means some entertainment is required, so what more could I ask for than a fresh copy of The Times and my trusty PSP?

Unfortunately, the first P of that glorious little acronym didn’t really come into the equation at all. Sony fanboys, have your torches and pitchforks at the ready.
