Monstar

Monstar
Name: Duncan Lawson, writing as Monstar
Country: Camden. (few people know that we're actually a nation state separate from London and the UK. Noel Fielding is our Queen)
What do you do on this site?: Staff writer, academic, Kwisatz Haderach
Consoles owned: PS3, Wii, X360
Introduce yourself, go!: I've done a fairly diverse amount of writing gigs from online games magazines (they meant nothing to me, its you I love) to restaurant crits, entertainment, global energy markets, horoscopes, casinos, adventure holidays, disclaimers, MTV adverts, Rotary Club magazine releases, and an interview with Uwe Boll. I’m training to be a lawyer (because you all love lawyers, right?), look like a selectively shaved bear, and think that society should not have downgraded drinking from its past status as art form.
What do you do in your free time?: Is every one of you bastards going to continue putting ' Running marathons whilst reading Racine plays in original French and saving orphans' ? I watch TV, alright? Lots and lots of TV, with occasion sides of movies, junk culture, Italian opera, comic books, anime, games of all stripes, as low-brow sci-fi as I can legally get a hold of, carbohydrates, cigarettes and alcohol. Did you prefer Coke Zero or Coke Classic ?: My gun! Fetch me my gun! And the hollow-points. Oh yes, this deserves some especially memorable exit wounds. You'll see.

PAX Midwest 09: Legacy Interactive webcasts Murder She Wrote preview

September 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Whilst the higher-ups of the SGC have actually got to attend PAX Midwest ‘09, as usual me and the rest of the European writing staff get to participate by watching them have fun on an itty-bitty press webcast. Not that we’re bitter or anything. Just saying.  At a ridiculous time of the morning GMT, I [...]

September 23rd, 2009 · 12 Comments

Now if the caring, responsible world of high fashion and design has taught young girls and boys just one thing it is this : thinner is better, and new and thin is the best. With this in mind, noted designer and lunatic Tai Chem has declared the new Playstation 3 to be a great big [...]

Swedish prick: World of Warcraft is a public health PANDEMIC!

September 17th, 2009 · 6 Comments

Not being content with earlier this year comparing Warcraft with cocaine use, the Swedish Youth Care Foundation (Stiftelsen Ungdomsvård) today told newspapers that computer gaming addiction, particularly to Warcraft, has reached ‘pandemic’ proportions. I think I speak for us all when I say our money was on zombie-ism (if that’s not a word it SHOULD be) [...]

So I have this idea for a great sitcom with smart, sassy dialogue and political savvy at the same time. Sort of like Dharma & Greg meets The West Wing. What we’ll do is take this deeply conservative homophobe called John and by some whacky turn of events he will end up having to team up [...]

Black Kuro Wii to go on sale in Japan. Casual-gaming ninja community undetectable for comment.

June 4th, 2009 · 2 Comments

There is news outside of E3, you know.  Why just today I think I saw old man Withers from the end of the street – looks like he bought myself a brand new hat. Mrs Brinkley from Number 42 still hasn’t found her cat, it seems like they’re never going to fill in that pothole by [...]
