A wise man once said that all great things must come to an end. I have no idea who that wise man was or what he was talking about, but in this case the topic is SG Pink. Sadly this great thing too must come to an end, even if said great thing only had five or so episodes.
It’s true there were more like 120 episodes, but only about five of them were with me, which in my humble opinion were the best years, or weeks, of the Pink Show. However, though we’ve had fun, it’s time to retire SG Pink.
That’s right folks. You heard it here first. Well, actually you heard it from those classy fellas on SG Blu if you were paying close attention when they so lovingly bid us farewell. I do believe that there may have even been a few tears.
But I digress… back to the point. SG Pink has officially been cancelled. What you need to understand before you start yelling your denials and wishes for us to come back is that there are many contributing factors that have gone into Sarcastic Gamer’s decision to cancel us. If it were just one thing or the other, we probably could have prevailed, but combined we were powerless to stop it.
Every company has a budget and the same is true for Sarcastic Gamer. With the economy what it is we’ve been making some cuts around here. Upon reviewing the companies P&L Doc discovered that SG Pink was making up about 50% of all the expenses. Apparently you’re not supposed to put new Tritton AX Pro’s for all the hosts on the company card and expense it out to the podcast. Well, who knew?
There’s also the issue of the hosts. To make a long story short, Esme and I aren’t exactly getting along at the moment. I may have made some comment about her needing to “just go back the the Shire” which may have ended with words being exchanged and hair being pulled. We’ll just say it wasn’t pretty and upper management decided that our offices now need to be on opposite ends of the building.
Jax on the other hand has simply been MIA for about the last 2 months. We’ve been throwing in soundboard clips for her but we’re running out of good material to work with. No one here really knows what happened or where she went. We’ve tried contacting her family, but they don’t have any new information for us either. Personally I think she simply had a catheter inserted and has been holed up her basement playing Rift 24/7.
Have any of you Rift players seen her? We are starting to get a little concerned.
And lastly, much like Duke Nukem, it simply came down to reviews. Here’s what the critics had to say…
“I’ve really tried giving this show a chance but honestly this show is boring. There isn’t any chemistry among the girls and it’s way too negative. They enjoy putting each other down way too much or rely on putting each other down for entertainment but it’s just awkward and sad. The last episode 112 seems like they are trying too hard. Fake laughing. I know that a few of them really know their stuff but it’s just not working. Ugh! I really tried but listener beware… it’s bad!” – Nat L7
“Train wreck.” – ieatcrabs
“I listened to a couple of episodes and couldn’t stand it. Nothing compared to SG Blue or SG Red. Sorry ladies. You guys need to become more interesting.” – ej25vf34gd7
“Riding on the coat tails of t Red and Blue we have Pink.. Sure, girls should have a voice in games too, but not this voice. These voices that just took cuts in line because they knew the person waiting in front of you. Kudos for being on air but it wouldn’t take much to blow by the thing content of SG Pink.” – forget_you_life
So there it is. Basically, we’ve all been fired. We’re also putting Esme, Harley, and Jax (if we find her) up for adoption. Sarcastic Gamer has decided to keep me because I’m just that special. Please send your adoption applications to pink@sarcasticgamer.com and tell us why you could provide the best home for them. A staff member may contact you for more information and to schedule a rabies shot.
