I don’t know who’s idea this was to build an app, but thank you. I have no access to wifi at work and this app gives me the podcasts I love, when they come out, which makes my work day go faster.

We didn’t announce it, but already I am seeing thank you emails like this coming in from several SG Community members. Apparently they found the new SG iPhone app on iTunes and it worked. Thank God! One guy asked me to send him pie because he didn’t like it. Sorry man, no pie. Just SG awesomeness.
For a one-time fee of $2.99 you’ll get:
- Early Access – Rather than wait until episodes are released on the blog, the new episodes of all SG podcasts are available to app users the moment that they are finished, sometimes up to a day earlier!

Just a note that iTunes doesn’t have a restriction on feed length. We’ve got 145 shows up on iTunes without any problems.

no its feedburner that’s screwing us up. once we get past 256k on our podcasts it craps the bed. Remember we have probably 160-180 shows in there thanks to the old Humpday Updates.
We’re planning a lot for the new app in the coming weeks so feel free to list some things you’d like to see below!
I like the app..but, a few things id like:
background audio like Pandora now that apple is allowing that API
Maybe the shows organized like folders, or the search by keywords instead of the exact name of the audio file.
being able to queue podcasts to download
maybe being able to view a sweet redesign of the site kinda like the Engadget app.
but the app alone is cool, it crashes sometimes but since i dont buy tshirts and stuff, this is the way i can contribute. I’d buy bumper stickers

I always stream the show through iTunes store over a 3G connection, just have to tap the episode instead of tapping the download link. Is this only allowed in the UK and not the US?

Sorry, had to go there. Honestly though, I’d get it to support the site if I had an iPhone…
Personally, I’d like to see a reformatted version of the boards! Forums are kinda frustrating to surf on iPhone Safari.
Also it would be cool to have direct access to your parody videos and songs!

I downloaded the app, and was listening to a podcast on it via streaming…pretty good, though it crash a couple of times. One question though – after i downloaded a podcast through the app, where did it go? I mean, where the downloaded podcast is saved? Cos i couldn’t find it anywhere..
Damn fine app. Though it can be improved, specifically:
•The app randomly crashes for no reason. Not too much that it’s a dealbreaker but I hope it’ll be fixed soon.
•I concur that there should be keywords for searches and/or folders for the shows.
•A fast forward and rewind button would be great. Yeah you can skip back 30 seconds, but I want more.

Will be purchasing it tomorrow for sure. Any chance of getting show notes for each episode in the future though? That would be incredibly helpful for the old episodes.
Great idea guys! I just picked it up and am commenting directly from the app. I can’t wait to see what you guys do with it. One suggestion: Podcaster soundboard. Please do this before PAX so I can rock this at the PAXtra life party!
Downloaded the app to my friends Iphone and he loves it. But you guys really need to make an android app. In both versions you should have the forums (cuz its a pain to get to on the phone) a way to order from the store (if its possible) and fast forward and rewind buttons would be great!

Great app, downloaded it a few nights ago, and the ability to stream the podcasts over the cellular network is at the very least, welcomed. Already 5*’d it, good work guys!
I grabbed this app from the Aussie itunes site. Its awesome!!!!!! I travel so much for my job that its great to know I have the whole SG gang right on my phone. makes it so easy to keep up to date on the new casts.
