Okay, it’s not really personal. It’s just a sweet tagline I figured I’d slot on at the end.

Anyway. We love games. If you’re reading this site, the chances are you love games. As I’m writing for this site, you can safely assume I love me some games too. Some guys even love making them, as you’ve probably guessed by now, otherwise we probably wouldn’t be playing any games at all!

Now think about taking that last set of dudes and dudettes — the ones that like making the games as well as playing them — and crush what they do into 48 hours. That’s the Global Game Jam. The Game Jam is basically a massive game-making love-in where designers and programmers get together and make games over 48 straight hours, and it’s happening in about 40 countries across the world, including various places in the States.

While we’re not all ga-ga over game developers, it’s pretty cool watching games taking shape over 2 straight days, especially when most people go with little or no sleep. Last year saw some puzzle games, shooter games and platformers, and some were pretty much ready for release as a full game. And, just like last year, I’ll be annoying you with some articles about what this year’s endurance run will produce.

For those massive fans of my Twitter — here’s looking at you, Shane86 — I’ll be manning all sorts of social media during Glasgow’s Game Jam and summarizing the best of it for SG. If you’re eyeing up a career in making games as well as playing them, it might be worth checking out. If not, have a looksee anyway; it might just inspire you.
