How To Lose Friends and EAlienate People

At the recent Eurogamer Expo 2009 in London, where EA were exhibiting many of their games, I was told on more than one occasion by a friendly, well-presented, but ultimately useless EA “tEAm member” that “EA don’t do interviews”?  Say what now!?!

For future training reference EA, when asked the question “Is anyone available to interview please?”, socially acceptable answers are:

• “No”

• “There is no one here to answer your questions”

•  ”Apologies, can’t be done today”

Socially unacceptable answers:

• “We have never done interviews before EVER and we are not about to start now”

• “I can not oblige, as you are an ugly dog”

• “The Eiffel Tower is made of jelly”

You know why those answers are socially unacceptable? BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL LIES!!!

Admittedly, not the worst or most evil of lies, but I do not appreciate two separate people being instructed to lie to my face.  I also know they annoyed other journalists and bloggers by making similar comments and insisting no photos be taken of their games.  Perhaps someone should tell EA they are there to publicize their games, not keep them a secret = /.

Attention EA.  If you want people to remember your games, then remember the people that support them, because right now, you need all the friends you can get.
