This is not news.
It is confirmation of the status quo. With the God of War Collection not available in Europe and no confirmation of any release date, are we certain we are still getting it? If we can not get God for Christmas, surely we are destined to be ungodly heathens for the rest of our days?

The God of War collection, an HD reworking of God of War I & II, was recently released in the USA. Way back in September Sony released this statement:
“We are currently looking into options to bring God of War I and II to SCEE consumers on PS3; however it will not be possible to release the games this calendar year. We will provide further information in due course.”
I have just confirmed with Sony today there are no further details available and received the exact same statement as their official stance at this time. No details are forthcoming on why this decision was taken.
The only theories I can come up with are that they are either worried about meeting demand in the USA, or consider the saturation of sales of PS2s (and backwards compatible PS3s) and God of War, was so high in Europe that they do not consider it worth releasing unless it sells extremely well in the USA.
Whatever Sony’s reasoning, I have to say I am a little disappointed and somewhat bemused. Sony could do with another big title in their European Christmas stocking. I think there are more than enough fans of the original games that are prepared to buy the Collection to experience the games in HD. They would be much more likely to do so if the release was spaced further apart from the release of God of War III, in March.
Then, there are the people like me: those who are interested in God of War III (even more so after playing the demo) but having not played God of War I or II, I wonder if I should play through the first two games beforehand. With no news of a release date on the horizon, I can not see the game coming out before the end of January at the earliest. Is Sony really expecting me to play my way through three God of War games in two months? I am a hardcore gamer, some would say a Sarcastic Gamer…but what I am not Sony, is a gaming God.
PS – I forgive you if you have something nice planned and are planning a special edition bundle of all three games.
PPS – Make sure the same thing doesn’t happen next year with Team Ico’s games!

@Pulviriza: What was the deal with censoring the first two games in Australia? Judging from previous cases and what I have seen in the God of War III demo, you will NOT be getting that game unless it is heavily edited.
