Notable Secondary Weapons
You’ll unlock a few Secondary Weapons between levels 19 and 39. My two favorite are the Glock and the Striker. The G18, or Glock Model 18 is a machine pistol with a 31 round clip, while the Striker is a 30 round semi-automatic shotgun. Both are excellent short to medium range secondary weapons and both have their use in an MP match of any type.
The Glock, in particular, is a personal favorite. It’s a beast of a short range weapon, with stopping power that compares favorably to even the Magnum .44, but with full auto. Sure, it kicks worse than a drunken mule, but at short range, it really can’t be beat until your unlock the sawed off shotgun called the “Ranger” at level 42. My preference is to put a silencer on it and take unsuspecting foes out silently which will keep me off people’s radar for a few more seconds, which is extremely useful in a Demolition or Domination match type.
The striker is just an all around useful shotgun. Its faster firing rate and comparable lethality makes it the preferred shotgun over the SPAS, and its control-ability makes it preferable to the arguably more lethal AA-12.
Notable Perks
Of the Perks that you unlock between 19 and 39, Cold Blooded, Final Stand, Ninja and Bling are the most immediately useful. Bling allows you to put two weapon attachments on your weapons, which is fantastic for obvious reasons. Final stand is the same as the CoD4 final stand and is also useful for obvious reasons. Of note, you will not be able to revive teammates who are in Final Stand, as you could do in World at War.
Of the new perks, Coldblooded and Ninja may be the most useful. Cold blooded allows you to be undetectable by Thermal Scopes, Air vehicles, UAV’s and sentry guns. Ninja, on the other hand, makes you invisible to heartbeat sensors and Ninja Pro makes you move silently. These two perks are most useful when used together to make you invisible to your enemy. These perks are extremely useful if you’re facing enemies that are getting a ton of kill streaks, as you’ll be invisible to enemy AC-130′s, Harriers, Attack Choppers, etc. This allows you to use the Stinger without fear of being killed by the enemy aircraft before getting the shot off. These perks can also be used effectively without the other, although, it really depends on how your enemy is playing. During Team Deathmatches, you’re most likely to see players with heartbeat sensors, which makes Ninja very useful to get the drop on your enemy.
Mix and match these weapons and perks as you see fit and enjoy, because after level 40, everything changes…
