UPDATE: My bad. The mission is called Overwatch.
Sometimes serendipity comes when you least expect it. I dunno if that ’s the case here, but if it’s not, then we need to seriously think about redefining “serendipity.” Because of some scheduling snafu’s Doc, Dave and I didn’t record the Red Show until this past Monday, October 26th. During the show, we discussed Modern Warfare 2 and we happened to gush over our “wishes” for Spec Ops missions.
The next day, our wish became true. Enter Spec Op Mission: Overwatch. Video and geekgasm, after the jump.
During the show on Monday, for those that haven’t heard it yet, we went “all fanboy” and discussed what we’d love to see in the MW2 Spec Ops missions. For those of you that have no idea what I’m talking about, Spec Ops is the co-op mini mission part of Modern Warfare 2 that will have you and a friend play singular missions.
Anyway, one idea we tossed out there was, what if there was a mission where one guy flew around in an AC-130, while another guy was on the ground and they basically worked together to escape from something or take something out. That would be a blast, right?
Before the Red Show was finally edited and uploaded on Tuesday evening, I was watching X-Play and low and behold, Infinity Ward debuted a new Spec Ops mission entitled Overwatch. What is Overwatch, well, check this out:
Holy crap right? A Mission where one guy shoots the crap out of the bad guys in a bad ass AC-130 Gunship, while the other guy targets stuff on the ground.
Serendipity indeed. Wish fulfilled.
Now, what other types of missions would you all like to see? We’ll make it happen on the next Red show!

OMG! Im telling all my friends to get this game now!!… knew that this game would be good but damn that looks fun! I think we can expect more “fanboyism” in the next episode of the red show… i dont mind

This mission looks AWESOME!!! I think a mission where youre both in fighter jets, and one of you has an objective and the other has to protect them by taking out the enemies fighter jets.
Looks okish but not something i would want to buy, spec ops looks good but i’m still annoyed that infinity wards hasen’t given this HD graphics, i know it dosen’t matter but when most games have it just seems dumb not to give a game HD then price it the same as games that do,
though gameplay wise this is awesome!

really? I got told by a bunch of PS3 fanboys on the Playstation network forum that the game is running at around 30 FPS it was a thread talking about boycotting MW2 becasue of the price so maybe the person lied to give themself a valid reason to boycot the game.
OMG Overwatch looks incredibly awesome!, there should be a mission in spec ops where theres one guy with a mission to complete and then theres a sniper somewhere defending him, that’d be awesome!
