NB: This should’ve gone up yesterday but I sorta fell asleep before I could put it up. Enjoy regardless!
Guys: STREET FIGHTER. MightyMutt’s winning.
It’s just coming up to 1am in London, and I’m sitting here with MightyMutt, Pillowfort and Krelith in MM’s humble abode having recorded our first podcast (which might hit soon, might not).
To put today into simple terms: videogames and beer. Having successfully met up with PF in Euston we headed on out to MM’s little neighbourhood of Finchley and proceeded to visit his local pub in the name of research — getting our bearings, naturally. He arrived soon after before we met up with Krelith and made our way back to the doghouse (geddit? ‘Cause it’s MightyMutt? Sighface).
Beer, Chinese and the unintentionally hilarious X-Men Origins: Wolverine soon followed, followed by some introductions to MightyMutt’s EyePet. We didn’t like him. Annoying little bugger, so he was. I’d sit and tell you more about him but that’d ruin the review we have coming up. To put it simply: the shower head you use to clean your pet defies the laws of physics and will happily rain upward. That should give you an idea of the quality of the entire game.
One podcast and a couple of beers later and MightyMutt and Pillowfort are trading blows in Street Fighter IV and we’re getting all set for day one of Eurogamer tomorrow. I’m pretty excited. If anyone else here is going, I hope you are too. We have some videogames to play, after all.
Personally, I’m looking forward to Heavy Rain, Brink and Split/Second a lot (and the last two’s developers are on site tomorrow so we might even get to chat to them!) and I’ll be betting they’re as badass as they all look.
But I’ll let you know for sure tomorrow, and the rest of the UK team – maybe, maybe including Eoco – will share their own experiences with you too. But for now, I’m gonna go back to watching Pillowfort lose Street Fighter. Again.

Hi, I went to the Expo in Leeds, volunteered the first day and went to check out the games properly on the second. The Eurogamer guys are really cool and the whole thing had a good vibe. Highlights Were Certainly Heavy Rain, I was absolutely blown away by it. The closest I’ve come yet to regret my decision to go Microsoft for this generation. AVP is also very Bad-Boy (and I’m not nutty on FPSs). Cue early for the Brink talk as loadsa people had to be turned away; it whips up quite a buzz. If the Team 17: Alien Breed talk is on there you should check it. The guy is practically a stand up comedian. There is one of the indie games where you’re a stick man on a space station. Try Clock it; one of the hardest yet most addictive games in existence (No that’s Treasure Island Dizzy). I was completely underwhelmed and frankly disappointed with Borderlands, but I’ll tell you one thing you shouldn’t have a problem getting a go on it because everyone in Leeds must have shared my opinion and it was pretty dead at that stand.
