I want to peel my face off with a lemon zester. NBA 2K10’s RIDICULOUS bugs have made me THAT mad. In my honest opinion, there is no way that 2K thought this game was finished when they released it. The enormous number of bugs (I have a ton of video evidence coming up below) that sit up and bite you in the face on virtually EVERY play-through of the game suggest…nay proves… That 2K cared more about hitting a release date than maintaining the normally astronomical standards that their sports games are known for.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I submit to you that 2K Sports did knowingly and willfully release a broken basketball game to its fiercely loyal NBA2K fanbase. My evidence, after the jump.
Last week, I reviewed NBA 2K10 here on Sarcastic Gamer, during which I told you about a few bugs that were bothering me. Despite these issues I still recommended the game. After spending even more time with what is supposed to be the dominant basketball franchise, I’m sad to say that I take it back.
I am issuing a recall on my review of this broken title.
I can not recommend that you buy this game until it is properly patched. Sadly, I can’t imagine them ever patching THIS many problems.
The sheer number of bugs is daunting.
From games that don’t ever end, to players warping all over the screen, it’s impossible to miss the gaping f**k ups that 2K decided that they were fine with selling to you.
Here, watch some of these.
We’ll start with free throws that never happen.
But that COULD be just a fluke right? oops… here’s another one.
It evens happened to these guys, causing them to speak in a strange tongue
You know what’s cool? When your player flies backwards in time when you’re trying to control a tricky approach to the hoop.
AND THEN!
AND THEEEEN!
Of course you can’t get your game on if the other team doesn’t show up. I sh** you not. watch this.
What if you won a game, made it to your season screen and found out the computer gave the win to the other team?
AI Issues GALORE!
“Ghost Balls”
Sometimes, you just never want that game to end. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to with NBA 2k10!
In the forums on 2K’s site it’s a pure mutiny right now. Players are going so far as to ask for their money back and have started more than one petition on the matter. Several threads boil down to vein-popping nerd rage, and for once… I’m with those pissed off, irrational guys.
What happened with NBA 2K10 isn’t something that 2K missed. It didn’t slip through the cracks. Bugs are so rampant on virtually every platform they’ve released the game on that its virtually undeniable that at some point, someone at 2K made a very foolish, and frankly dishonest decision, to sell gamers a product they knew was severely broken.
For shame. 2K you’re letting your fanbase down, and you’re opening the door for “Live” to convert portions of your 2K fanbase to what might be the only fully functional NBA franchise of 2010.
Personally, I’m hanging up my controller until a patch materializes for the PS3. The future of my loyalty to the 2K basketball franchise hangs in the balance. I wonder if they care. From the brazen behavior of releasing this pre-alpha build in retail packaging, I’m guessing the answer is going to disappoint.

Wow, amazing. I think I like the 6th video best, the broken jump.
NBA 2K9 wasn’t like this was it? I played it for a while and it seemed fine.
How can you break one of those yearly iterated sports franchises like this?
I think more dissappointing than 2K putting out this crap, is the fact that a lot of people are complaining, but noone wants to do anything real about it. Yeah, taking it back is not an option because the potiential of the game is great, if they fix even MOST of the issues this could be an awesome game, and the fact that you get squat for returning it. But sitting around, waiting for it to get fixed???? Didn’t we do this last year…? And last year’s problem were nothing compared to this. They haven’t even acknowledged that there are problems (out side of the forums). They haven’t appologized for all the issues and infact I just got an add to buy the Litimed Edition copy. Being fully aware of ALL the issues, they are still actively selling it?!?!?!? Are you serious? If the game were stocks, some one would do time in prison for this.
It also pisses me off that they are flying under the radar on this, too. I want the media to pick this up. If this were anything but a video game the media would be all over this. Some company just made millions by saling a faulty (and that’s putting it mildly) product. Shouldn’t matter what it is. If I had my way, I would start a Class Action Lawsuit, except that even though everyone want to bitch, I have found out that they aren’t willing to do much more.
I suggested we “Blackout” the servers, by (everyone) not playing for two days. Not to get 2K’s attention, but to get the media’s attention. Had a reporter from G4 all ready to cover it, but instead of getting support, people chose not only to NOT support it, but to discourage others from supporting. People seem to be content to sit and wait for a patch. THE WHOLE GAME IS BROKEN! What the hell are they going to patch? Also, let’s assume that they ARE going to patch it, do you have any idea how long it would take to test a patch that size, that hits EVERY mode of play….? MONTHS! With all the testing, dev work, regression testing, server testing not the mention all the web testing on the site and server pages….. For those of you NOT in the software development business (as I am) don’t hold your breathe. I guarantee you they have more people working on how to take your attention off 2K10, than they do working on the patch for it. And if they remove a single feature, that’s grounds to get our FULL MONEY back.
Whoa, why don’t you write an essay about it.
Man, 2K has always been the best b ball game out, so it’s disappointing to see the game broken this way. I was planning on getting it from gamefly, and probably keeping it, so now I will take a wait and see approach. Honestly, after playing the live demo, that’s not really an option either, so it looks like I’ll get a lot more use out of madden than I normally would.
It’ll get patched eventually. How about you guys do an article on Fallout GOTY edition for PS3. That’s a title that’s riddled with so many gameplay bugs and there’s no indication it’ll ever get fixed by the douchebags that also call themselves Bethesda.

Haiku Contest cancelled as 2K Drops support, speaks out against Extra Life
Honestly, I havent had any of the issues you are complaining about. People talking about boycotting a game and blacking out severs, wow, put that energy into something much useful. If you want to talk about bugs, how about you go play “fully functional” Live for 20 minutes and you will stop your complaining!!
