Sit down and strap yourself in. I’m about to turn your world upside down. After this, you might question everything you know. Does the combination of blue and red really make purple? Is Tupac dead? Are Vienna Sausages really made with chicken, beef and pork? It’s highly possible that you could be driven to the brink of insanity, take to the streets to toss excrement at innocent passersby. If you’re nabbed by the Fuzz, you’ll surely share a cell with some guy with “Big” attached to his name.

Dead Space 2 is for reals, according to Reuters. Although lacking official confirmation from property holder Electronic Arts, the international news service pegged Dead Space 2 for a 2010 release, mentioning it as part of an article focused on the success of horror games. No specific details were divulged, but if the game is indeed in development, it’s probably safe to assume that players will have to strategically dismember Necromorphs in space. Just a hunch though.

Once again, EA has yet to issue an official statement concerning a follow-up to the excellent 2008 sci-fi shooter. Though, I certainly wouldn’t bet against it. EA clearly wanted a Dead Space franchise from the start, what with the action figures, animated film and six-part comic series. And let’s not forget the feature film that is reportedly in the works. Let’s just hope that EA Games doesn’t turn Dead Space into an annual thing, similar to what Lionsgate has done with that tired piece of shit Saw series.

Besides, rumblings of a sequel have persisted for many months, and a September LinkedIn ad posted by Visceral Games – Team Dead Space, as I like to call it – acknowledged that a follow-up was already in pre-production. Seems to me that we are just waiting for an official release from EA.

I doubt this report is going to shock anyone, but as a Dead Space fan, I felt obligated to post the scant details. 2010 is looking pretty stacked, but if Reuters is indeed on the money, and Dead Space 2 does ship next year, it slots in behind God of War III and BioShock 2 on my list of anticipated titles.
