With DJ Hero on the verge of release, Activision took advantage of the spotlight this week to reveal its further exploration into the world of hip-hop and announce the next member of the rhythm game dynasty, Auto-Tune Hero.
More breath “faking” details after the jump
Taking the standard vocal format used in Guitar Hero World Tour and adding little else, Activision is relying on industry giants like T-Pain, Lil’ Wayne, and Cher to make this stripped down rehash dominate shelves like a boss.
Among Auto-Tune Hero’s core features are an online Battle Mode, a “Make it Rain” currency exchange system, and a Bandwagon Racing Minigame. Activision executives seemed enthusiastic about the game’s potential for DLC (not to be confused with the LBC) since it appears that anyone in the music industry suffering from stagnation is turning to auto-tune as a desperate grab for attention. Hell, even Snoop Dog gave it a shot.
Fans of Auto-Tune will rejoice at the inclusion of a recording studio and website driven file transfer. Musicians, or Doc, will be able to upload MP3 files and bring them into the recording studio to mix with the game’s assets and new vocal tracks. No news on any screening process for copyright infringement, but did we mention that this is a hip-hop themed game?
The seemingly peripheral-crazed developer has not announced any plans for a more expensive microphone, but anything is possible.
Auto-Tune Hero’s production schedule has been marked by its share of obstacles. A rumored Chris Brown Community Service achievement caused an uproar with many of the labels signed to appear in the game. Leaked details of the game’s early builds also revealed that Activision’s initial concept had the player spending the majority of his/her time “on a boat.”
Despite Kanye West’s attempts to interrupt production, Auto-Tune Hero is scheduled to be released several weeks before the current popularity of Auto-Tune fades away.
