Waiting for something to happen sucks. Ask Frawlz. He had to wait until he was 24 before he finally got a girl he didn’t pay for.
But there’s a girl a lot of us are waiting for that we won’t mind paying for. We’ll pass her around and everyone will have their way, and nobody will mind.
Her name is Starcraft II.
I feel like a virgin again. Like a guy who has waited a decade for the “big night.” I wake up in the middle of the night all sweaty, with vivid dreams of Hydralisks tearing Terran marines to pieces dancing through my head.
Yesterday Blizzard Entertainment announced that Wings of Liberty has been pushed back to the first half of 2010. As Funny Man’ Rocco would say “F***!”
The rationale for the delay is the need to release Wings of Liberty at the same time as the relaunch of Battle.net, Blizzards online networking service.
Raise your hand if you give a gnat’s knee about Battle.net as it pertains to having to wait another eternity for the big night.
Blizzard will of course also use the extra time to add yet another layer of polish to a game that had us all drooling like infants when it was announced over 2 years ago.
Bummer, yeah. But I think it safe to say Starcraft fans will just take it in stride. After ten plus years, what’s a few more months? (Other than torture in the same realm of magnitude as getting a spicy video from a long distance girlfriend you won’t get to see in person for six months.)
Battle.net will be a key part of Starcraft and other Blizzard titles moving forward, so it is reassuring they are doing everything they can to prepare for what will no doubt be an onslaught of gamers looking to out “Zerg rush” their peers. A revamped Battle.net, combined with abandoning the option for LAN play, is part of Blizzard’s strategy to combat the pirates we all know are just waiting to rip off all the hard working developers and make it even harder to get good PC titles published.
The original Starcraft is arguably the most played PC RTS of all time, with an incredibly large online community that has remained pretty much constant for over a decade. Starcraft 2 will more than likely become even bigger.
Just like Becky Roplansky told me after I dropped 3 months pay on a limo, beverages and flowers for the prom… I’ll just have to wait.
I just wish I could get something to…. tide me over…. you know… like Becky did.

Damn… I was hoping this was somehow going to chronicle my personal quest to get back in the game after a decades long relationship ended… Total disappointment.
Damn these “videogame” articles…
Yeah i second rothbeard….i thought this was something else lol
I’ve been waiting for so long for this game and I was looking foward for it coming out near christmas and maybe not having to pay anything if you know what I mean.
I just hope they fix the online. The first starcraft had ok internet, but if there was any lag people would just say “screw it I’m leaving” and leave everyone in a rut. I hope they do something about that it’s definitely a big selling point for me.
I need to get laid..
Everyone talks about Starcraft i’m not sure what it is?
