Say what you like about Nintendo’s money printer, the fact is it prints money. That’s a metaphor of course, for their body jiggling-inducing Wii.
The Wii gets a bad rep amongst the (and I hate to use the term), “Hardcore” gamers of the world, primarily for its inability to run high definition action games designed for a more mature audience. That said, Nintendo have never cared. They don’t need to. They’ve more than doubled the unit sales of their nearest competitor without breaking a sweat, and that’s almost entirely down to their one-sided stranglehold of the (again, an annoying term), “Casual” market.
It would seem the Nintendo Wii is continuing to prove itself unstoppable. The evidence lies within the top three best selling games of last week, with Wii Sports Resort, WiiFit and the latest entry into EA’s Tiger Woods franchise taking up said positions respectively.
Two of these are simple to analyse; Both Wii Sports Resort and Tiger Woods ‘10 come bundled with the groundbreaking Wii MotionPlus controller add-on. Plus, Wii Sports Resort is essentially a retail-scale update to the undeniably popular Wii Sports, which only adds to the reasoning for its #1 position. As for WiiFit taking up the #2 spot, well, I guess there are still far too many Wii owners out there, overly concerned with losing weight, and willing to fork out an insane amount of money for a “white thing you can stand on.” (See SG’s very own WiiFit Parody).
Statistics don’t lie, people. Clearly the human race is still more than content to flail around in their living room, and pay good money for the privilege of doing it. And the really depressing thing? I, too, will soon be a failer flailer…

FIRST
it sucks but still i don’t consider the wii to be a console anymore, more of a virtual gym then a console.
It’s nice to see someone growing tired or hating the “Casual” and “Hardcore” titles. Flailing can be fun. Just make sure to do it with style.
As the owner of Tiger Woods ‘10 and the motion plus control I would like to know what is so ‘groundbreaking’ about the controller add on… Seems to me like it now correctly does what it was supposed to do two years ago… Just sayin.
I’m not sure it was ever “supposed” to perform 1:1. That’s just what people assumed it would do.
Ha ha wii will rule the world, and still have money to burn
