Why is BioWare making me play Mass Effect a third time?

In my humble opinion, Mass Effect was the game of the year in 2007 (no offense to anyone who chose BioShock). It was a long game, but, thanks to a single piece of downloadable content, was worth playing through a second time. Now, after about a year of it sitting on my shelf collecting dust, it might be time to crack that case open one more time.

New DLC is coming and there’s not a damn detail about it. Well, actually, there is one detail: “it’s pretty cool” according to BioWare. Hardly the most helpful piece of information in the world, is it? But it’s certainly not the least helpful either (the fact that I like chicken takes that spot).

Oh curse you, BioWare, for making me play Mass Effect again. Do they not realize that its guaranteed-to-be-a-time-suck sequel is coming out soon? I’ve got other games to play, and sleep to slept! If only they would make it like the Fallout 3 DLC that can be played after you have finished the main story. If not, at least I get one more chance to seduce Ashley, instead of letting her [OMFG SPOILER!!!!] die on that planet. It was cold there…

What are you thoughts on Mass Effect DLC coming out so close to Mass Effect 2 and so long after Bring Down The Sky was released? Sound off in the comments!

I couldn’t finish it the first time around. Due to A. My Xbox going E74 B. Me being indecisive about which character design to go with and C. It just became too repetitive and I was lost “where do I go now” more than half the time.

UK print media is saying that this DLC will lead into the story of Mass Effect 2 as well as introduce some new races.

And completed it three times already, one more won’t be too annoying!

How can you not know where to go when you have a mission log that tells you where to go?? =P This game is awesome. I’ve been thinking about doing another play through as well, just so I can be caught up before the release of ME2

Everytime I put that disc back into my 360 I get all excited because it’s awesome and then BLAMMO!

Suddenly I remember how frikkin’ buggy the combat is. You could say it “bugged” the crap out of me. Awesome game, but I’m inconceivably glad they’ve overhauled it for ME2.

That said, I probably should play through again just to finally max out my character. I hear there are treats in store for ME2 owners who’ve beefcaked their ME1 Sheperd.

    • I’m currently playing it through again. I try to be a good character, but always end up going Renegade.

And I never left Ashley to die. Maybe this time.. but probably not.

got the blue alien on my playthrough. when this dlc hits i will replay and get ashley.

I just hope the specs for 2 and 3 are near enough to the old specs and it comes out on steam. Wanna get all 3 via steam and hopefully they will all work on my laptop.
am sure they will seeing as they keep saying how all 3 games will be connected and you can bring your old decisions with you.

Mass Effect is my favourite 360 game and one of my favourites of all time, it was just such an amazing game. Mass Effect 2 seems to be doing everything everyone wanted, and making it even better, bringing it closer to perfection. We’ve been waiting for this DLC for a long time now, so hopefully Bioware have used all the time given to them to make some fantastic DLC. Hopefully the DLC will bridge the 2 year gap between ME and ME2, making it perfect for release just before ME2.
