Sony’s Holy S*** PS3 Bundle!

Not too long ago Sarcastic Gamer reported on the worst PS3 bundle ever created: Terminator Salvation with Terminator 3 on Blu-ray. It kind of made me feel bad for those poor consoles that would never leave the shelves. Now they’ve done something to completely redeem themselves.

See how they made me happy after the jump.

I like Killzone 2 and I love Metal Gear Solid 4, these are two must owns for any person that has a PS3 sitting at home. Don’t have one? There’s good news, Sony has decided that those two block buster titles will be in the uber bundle that they will be releasing the general public. This could be the reason for anyone who has been thinking about getting to head to the store (if you’re a shut in, order online). It almost makes me wish I could buy one all over again… well I could, but two PS3s would just be ridiculous.

For those that are waiting for the price drop, this might be even better. If it’s $399 with an 80+ gb hard drive, it’s a win, win. They get more consoles sold and you get hours of MGS4 cut scenes and KZ2 multiplayer greatness.

Well, I would be cautious anyway. Seems like they want to clear their stocks. And isn’t that a sign for the PS3 Slim?
I think many people who didn’t see the PS3 Slim coming would be pissed, if it got released 1 month after this purchase.

Although, after the pictures I’ve seen of the Slim, if it doesn’t bring any new features, I prefer the big beast. But this is kinda a 100$ price drop, instead of cutting the price, they increase the value, which I am ok with.

Regarding the impending slim, I’d be more curious about what Sony might be slashing next to decrease the size/cost. The obvious changes will be improvements to the motherboard and cooling system. Will the HDD take a hit back to 40GB? Will it have a power brick like the 360s? Will it have optical audio out? There really isn’t much else they can do to reduce cost, let alone raise profit. Additional functionality isn’t likely.

At 400 bones, a PS3 plus those two titles is a solid deal that anyone interested in those games shouldn’t hesitate to jump on, regardless of what Sony may be bringing out any time in the future at $299.99.
