My Saturday mornings are booked up with situations where exhaustion and hangovers are counter productive. Friday nights now mean occasions when I can sit back and enjoy some time to myself. The significant freeing of entertainment capital staying at home brings helps with trying to purchase my next game.

Yesterday though the fun was free.

1 vs 100 has interested me for a while, you might know this already, trivia is cool; prizes are also held in a high level of regard (specifically: winning them).

And although there were no real prizes since this is still the Beta, the promise of them is enough. The game’s main lure for me as someone who needs to constantly confirm that they are smarter than others is that almost immediate feedback you receive after getting questions right. Knowing that Davina McCall hosted BBBM this year has never made me feel good, but seeing 30 people knocked out of the mob because they didn’t know definitely brought a smile to my face.

I also really enjoyed the party feature, I was able to hang out with three of my friends and discuss some tactics, and by tactics I mean how badly the female host’s dialogue is stitched together. I hope this doesn’t change as there’s a lot of charm to horrible madden-esque voice acting, however the male host obviously hasn’t been cast yet and that definitely needs to be taken care of. Gum-flapping and text boxes are what I’d expect of this game if it were an early ps2 release.

Here’s hoping extended play next week is as fun; I may even get the soon-returning missus to give it a try.
