Here we have yet another exceptional post from the Sarcastic Gamer Community, this time courtesy of member KumiKaze. If you want to see your work on the front page, then just create a forum account and start your own SGC blog. Or, just send Havok a box of Zebra Cakes. I hear he likes those.

OK, so I thought I would help out you cash-strapped gamers out there who are looking for something good for your iPhone/iPod Touch. I have an iPod Touch and feel a little hesitant to pass my hard earned cash toward a new “gaming” system. So anyway, here it goes.

The Name of the Game: TapDefense | Genre: Tower Defense | Company: TapJoy | Price: FREE!

I have to say that this is one of the best tower defense games I have played in a very long time. The theme is good vs. evil or rather, Heaven vs. Hell, where you must keep the demons from hell out of heaven.

There isn’t anything really different in this game from the others – y’know, build towers to keep monsters away, get bigger and better ones as you go – except the number of gameplay options. When you tally it up there are 108 ways to play the game. There are three different types of options to configure before you hop into a game.

The first offers you a scenario. For example, if you choose the “This is Sparta” scenario, you start off with 3 lives, 300 gold, 3 halos (allowing for research into new weapons), 3% interest, and can only build 3 of each type of tower. There are 6 scenarios, each with its own twist.

The second gameplay option is the map. There are 6 to choose from, each demanding a different strategy. Some can make things very difficult. “Moat,” for instance, contains water on much of the course, which limits where you can put towers.

The third option dictates length of play, specifically how many levels of demons you will face. There is quick play, normal containing 42 levels, and Endurance containing 60 levels of demons.

All in all, this is a great tower defense game that you should check out. Oh, and did i mention that its FREE?

OK, so with that out of the way, I must mention another game, although this one is absolute s**t.

First let’s go back to the days of the Atari 2600 … aaahh, brings back great memories. OK, now remember how much fun you had playing Joust on your Atari? Lots right? With that memory still fresh, I bring you iJoust. I saw this and was was like, “YES!” My expectations, however, were not met. immediately began swearing up a storm, and felt like killing myself.

There is nothing fun about this game. There are 4 on-screen buttons used to move your jouster: 2 for left and 2 for right. One of each direction makes you fly, the others run. Not a good start, since you used the Atari joystick to move left and right, and tapped the 1 button to fly. What’s more, the controls were nonresponsive, forcing me to continuously mash the buttons.

I finally managed to defeat every first-level enemy, only to be greeted by the dreaded “GAME OVER” screen. Yep…GAME OVER. Just one level with no special knights to kill, or eggs to destroy. Nothing but crap. So stay away from iJoust…or else.
