I’m going to keep this short because frankly every minute I spend typing this blog post is a minute that I am NOT playing Red Faction:Guerilla, my favorite game thus far this year. If you’re on the fence about dropping three AndyJacks on it, get the hell down from there.
I can tell how special a game is by its effects on my body, specifically my eyes. The drier my corneas get, the more into the game I am. It means, I think, that I’m not blinking enough because I don’t want to miss anything.
After my first MAJOR session with Red Faction:Guerilla, I blinked dust. Yeah. This game is THAT good.
Red Faction:Guerilla, thus far has delivered everything I could want in this type of game. The missions are satisfying, the multiplayer reminds me (strangely) of Tribes (one of my all time favorites) and let’s face it… Destroying things is just stupid fun.
At the very least you owe yourself a rental, but I’m glad to have this game in my collection, as it’s going to take an eternity to finish and the multiplayer is something that I know will keep me coming back for a long, long time.
For the first time, maybe ever, I’m sorta wishing I was playing Red Faction on a PC rather than my 360. Though I’m loving it just fine, I could really use a little more accuracy in the shooting controls. On top of that I’m thinking this game is RIPE for mods, which I’d imagine we’ll see eventually.
I’m probably only a fifth of the way through the single player, and I’ve only logged about a dozen multiplayer matches, but already Red Faction: Guerilla stands out to me as an enormous highlight in the 2009 gaming year.
Keep an eye out for our SG Review later today!

I dunno why… but so far this game has been meh for me… I completed my first mission after the character’s brother died… and I didn’t feel much draw of it. Sure destroying stuff is fun… but beyond that it’s not really appealing to me. Oddly enough I’m having more fun with Sacred 2. Maybe I’m just in an RPG mood right now, cause Sacred 2 is nowhere near a great game, but it is so much more fun to me than Red Faction right now
I, on the other hand, am FAR too obsessed with this game! It even stopped me playing inFAMOUS for the last two days, which I genuinely didn’t believe was possible.
Yup can’t agree with you more, Doc.
I’m only a bit through, and have only played a few multiplayer matches.. It’s impressed me so much.
The way in multiplayer you have those backpack things letting u fly, smash through walls, heal, shake the ground etc etc I find adds a whole new dimention to online shooters.
