Nintendo is apparently fed up with companies like Sony copying their motion controllers and decided enough is enough. As witnessed on the show room floor, Nintendo is taking a page out of the competitor’s book and copying their controllers! This is a first party Wii controller that will be out in Japan soon. Yes, you read that right, this is not a third party knock off, this is manufactured by Nintendo.

When we asked the rep what their inspiration was for this new controller (which we’ve dubbed the DualShockWii) the rep simply smirked and stroked his finely kept goatee, not saying a word. The controller was being stored in an airtight, hermetically sealed plexiglass container (which ironically wasn’t bolted down).
Dave asked what would happen if we took off with it (figuring we could split up and ditch this guy in the crowd) but we were informed we were already under the watchful eye of several snipers. I think I’ve figured out what Nintendo does with some of its money… snipers! I would’ve never guessed that.
Upon closer inspection, the controller is almost button for button identical to the Playstation 3’s DualShock3 controller. This controller even has a Home button where the DS3’s PS button is.
For those of you curious about the cord… it connects to a standard Wii remote, giving you the patended “wired wireless” control the Wii has always had for its retro controllers. The controller is due out this summer in Japan with no release date to report for Europe or the US.

Is this thing really real, if so Finally! Sony and microsoft copy thier ideas why should it matter if nintendo does the same?
Awesome, in theory. In practice, I’m not so sure there’s that many games for the Wii or Virtual Console that warrant purchasing this if you already have a WiiMote and a Classic Controller, or for that matter, a Gamecube controller at your disposal.
This is absolutely 100% real. When we asked the Sony rep across the walk-way, his reply was “there’s a reason Sony hasn’t really strayed from that design for over a decade… it works.”
since when do microsoft copy nintendo?
anyway, this controller should provide some entertainment and add more fuel to the fanboy war.
it’s real they call it the classic controller pro and is designed for virtual consul and wiiware
It’s pretty much the existing classic controller with 2 extra shoulder buttons and hand grips at the front. I’m not getting one, cos I already have a classic controller.
seriously? not fiction friday?! took nintendo long enough to copy their rivals, microsoft and sony have been doing it for so long that for the sake of all that is good we actually need a new fricken word to explian what their doing!
This looks awesome though so i doubt anyone cares and if sony says anything then nintendo can sue them for copying the wiimote anyway.
It looks nice, but it’s still got the damn corners around the analog sticks. Bah!
