Last year we were presented with the first step in Sony’s effort to present compelling gameplay with a social experience in the form of LittleBigPlanet. Yesterday Microsoft announced yet more customisable car art in Forza 3. Combine the two and what do we get?

Sony have just revealed ModNation Racers, a fully customisable social gaming experience in the form of a cutesy racing game. And by fully customisable I mean FULLY. Everything from your avatar to your car to the tracks themselves are open to deep levels of customisation. Deeper than a huge freakin hole!

Landscapes, weather and obstacles are all available to fool around with and that’s before you even set up your track.

This game looks promising, REALLY promising. Whether it lives up to LBP’s level of user-created content obviously has yet to be seen, but for now it’s looking great.
