When Media Whores Collide!

Good intentions, poorly executed.

Good intentions, poorly executed.

Disbarred Florida attorney and video gaming anti-Christ Jack Thompson has been hired on as a legal consultant to assist in drawing up litigation for the legal department of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Will there be enough room for both megalomaniacal egos to fit in one article? The world will find out after the jump!

PETA’s latest video game gripe comes in the form of  launching a campaign against Take Two Interactive’s latest game on the Wii, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, saying that the circus is “looking to take it’s cruelty to animals virtual”.

PETA has reportedly spoken with both Take Two and its CEO, claiming that the famous circus has a “real life, lengthy history of animal abuse and neglect”, and they would rather not play games featuring an association that “beat animals for entertainment”.

Jack Thompson, disbarred in late 2008 and denied appeal in April 2009, is legally unable to perform law as a condition of his disbarment.  So the decision for PETA to take on Thompson as a member of their law team is baffling, as they risk serious legal counter-suit by Ringling Brothers.  In a recent interview with the New York Times, a PETA employee close to their legal department who requested anonymity stated the following:

“Let’s face it, we’re having a great time getting the word out there about our organization.  And when you can’t get positive attention, you get negative, and its working great!  I mean, most people could care less about us, and now we’ve got the seething anger of thousands of gamers!”  As for Jack, we figured who better to file a frivolous lawsuit against a relatively inane video game but the King of Ridiculous Lawsuits, Jack Thomspon?  I mean, the guy was disbarred for the crazy shit he said about….hey, are you recording this?”

Mr. Thompson, who is reportedly working part time as a Wacky Ball Crawl attendant at Chuck E. Cheese, had this to say about his upcoming foray back into law.

“Yeah, it’s illegal.  Who cares at this point?  I go home and sleep with the barrel of a loaded gun in my mouth every night.”

The world would probably just implode due to the evilness (is that a word?) of it all.

Oh geez, I forgot today was friday and thought this was real until I got to the PETA employee part. I thought “wait a minute… something’s not right here.”

That’s how I roll on Fridays. 80% accuracy with a twist of realism so the article COULD be real, and then I take a hard left at silliness.

PETA IS going after the Wii Barnum and Bailey Circus game. That was real. But Jackie-poo is no longer allowed to practice law in any capacity. That’s why you haven’t heard much out from his corner in the last six months.
