Apparently, Nintendo Power have finally announced the release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom outside of Japan. For those of you totally unaware of what this is, it’s a mash-up of characters from Capcom games with some anime characters largely from the around the 80s.
I’ve never watched a Tatsunoko anime in my life (not even Neon Genesis Evangelion!) so obviously I shouldn’t find this particularly interesting, why am I making a post? Find out after the jump!
You know what this says to me? Capcom are making a butt-load of money right now. The party line from Capcom peeps was that Tatsunoko characters are owned by a lot of different parties in the US and it would be a chore to get them all interested, it would also mean having to cut in each of them.
Given the vast success Capcom has had lately (off the top of my head, Megaman 9, two Street Fighters and RE5) it’s likely that they’re feeling rather flush and are willing to put up with demands from licence holders.
Obviously I’d like a lot more information on this as I am hella speculating. Maybe we won’t get it, maybe we will and I’ll have another article to write. I enjoy easy content.
E3 is close; hold onto your horses, fight-fans.
