A little over a year has passed since developer Pyramid and Sony Computer Entertainment brought us the fresh, unique, fun and overwhelmingly addictive game we all know and love as Patapon. Even after all that time, Patapon remains the PSP game I personally play the most, and about the only thing that could possibly force me to put the game down is…you guessed it, Patapon 2!
Find out if Patapon 2 lives up to its predecessor; learn how Patapon 2 makes it easier for gamers new to Patapon to get into the game and why I don’t care if the rest of this year’s PSP lineup is any good after the jump!
Check out the Patapon 2 Hero Trailer.
If I had to hold up just one game as a reason to own a PSP, I’d choose Patapon without a second thought. I bring my PSP with me just about everywhere I go, and if I have my PSP on me, it’s a pretty safe bet I am also carrying Patapon.
Nobody is more fanatical than a convert, and speaking as someone who once took every opportunity to lob cheap shots at Patapon right up until it was released, I can now say I am a full fledged Patapon zealot. I’m not sure I’d sacrifice a body part if that was the cost of being able to play it…but I’d consider it. It’s THAT much fun.
The original Patapon is a stylish, rhythm based strategy game that took the PSP world by storm back in ‘08. A year later, and Patapon 2 is looking to do it again.
With new abilities, units, new bosses, an evolution tree, a ton of unlockable content and featuring multiplayer for the first time, Patapon 2 is not just a slightly upgraded version of the original (though some will make that claim, to which I say…have you even played it?).

ive been loving this game, im stuck on the last boss and have been grinding for weeks to make my army strong
Haven’t read the hole review but i like what i am hearing.
I’m loving this game as well, considering I got if before PMPB, but I have been playing a game on my blackberry that everyone has heard of, brick breaker lol and I been twitering too much to play this. I have both and I can agree the second one is better.
How the hell do you guys already have it? It isn’t on the PSN store yet. I can’t find a store that is selling the voucher. Wtf?
I have played the patapon 2 demo for over 15 hours, its that addictive (and that only has 5 levels!) even the demo alone has the ability to get all but three unit types (in the Japaneses version of the demo, you get an extra 2 levels which means you can get all but 1). As PMPB said the levels will change depending on weather. a single level can be a boss fight with Dodonga (the first dragon boss), Majidonga (a improved version of Dodonga) or very rarely on snowy days Kacchindonga (I very powerful Ice Dragon, considered to be an ultimante goal of the game, but still beatable in the demo). I am probobly going to buy this game (as soon as I finish Patapon 1, which I haven’t played yet because my UMD drive broke).
