Boost DSi utility with new Animal Crossing apps!

I think there may be something wrong with our screencap software, given how blurry this is. The main issue may be that we own no screencap software.

Luckily for Nintendo, it’s physically impossible to resist the adorableness of Animal Crossing‘s polygonal populace. Their super-cute faces, and comically bulbous craniums test even the most macho of men’s reservations. When someone sees an Animal Crossing game box in their local video game emporium, resistance is futile. Those beaming little visages gazing directly at your eye holes ensure that you will purchase the game, despite that nagging little voice in the back of your head crying “Don’t buy this. Buy anything other than this. Please not Animal Crossing!” Yet unluckily for Nintendo, digital downloads, namely those on the DSiWare store, do not have box art, which is good news for those of us who wish to read a sans Animal Crossing credit card statement!

But, while the striking absence of box art may be a contributing factor, the appalling uselessness of the DSi Store’s latest releases may be a more significant reason for why I won’t be giving Nintendo my hard earned cheddar this time around.

Hang on one second, guys. Just need to check the time. But where to check it? Should I use the handy clock functionality built into the Windows task bar, or perhaps the gloriously convenient timepiece contained within my mobile telephone? Then again, the digital clock sitting on my desk presents a compelling argument, but I do so love the chronometer on my radio! Too many choices! The worst part though, and this may well cause a saline droplet to run down your cheek, is that, regardless of which device I use to check the time, I never have much fun doing it. They’re all so austere and drab, where’s the fun? Enter Animal Crossing Clock, a delightful timekeeper for your Nintendo DSi! Boasting both analog and digital clock formats, three alarms (with snooze functionality no less!) and charming moving backgrounds starring some of your favorite bestial friends, the Animal Crossing Clock is certainly not light on features. The best part? It’s a bargain, at only 200 Nintendo DSi Points! That’s a mere $2.10!

Having a fun clock is one thing, but it certainly won’t get me any closer to working out the conversion rate between DSi Points and Dollars using the figures above. I’d need some kind of calculation computation device, but since cheap, portable versions of those don’t already exist, I guess I’ll just have to stick to carving basic arithmetic into this wax tablet. Well, at least I would have to do that, if Nintendo had not come to save the day, with the prosaically named and appropriately priced (200 Nintendo DSi Points!) Animal Crossing Calculator. Not one to shy away from functionality, Animal Crossing Calculator is so crammed full of features, that some of them are spilling over the side! As well as your standard calculator functionality (including a memory key and a thirteen digit display!!!!!) there is a unit converter for all your unit converting needs, as well as the ability to have your numerical result read out in Animalese! What’s more, if your answer meets certain fun criteria, a  jubilant Animal Crossing character will bound on screen! In the immortal words of the Nintendo press release: “Get ready for an inventive and practical way to experience the charm of Animal Crossing.”

What do you think? Happy to slam down the dough for these excellent applications? The personified comment box eagerly awaits your answer.
