The first Sarcastic Gamer Radio was a polarizing experience to say the least. The show is indeed a work in progress, and we gathered a lot of feedback and went back into the audio workshop for another go.
Sarcastic Gamer Radio #2: Baby Come Back
With Paul Christy out on vacation this week, we introduced a brand new full-length SG Parody song debut (look for the video on IGN later this week)!
We got into games like Hawx, Chronicles of Riddick, and touched a little more on CoD:WaW. We also had a little talk about a topic Truth n Justice brought up on the blog last week, about how NXE’s party system is sorta killing the social aspect of Xbox Live.
You’ll hear from several community members in the 15 seconds of fame program, and a touching final farewell to former listener Shane86 to whom we wish nothing but the best.

Tremendous show Doc and Dave. I really liked how you all spent more time talking about games. There was also a nice mix of ads and skits to keep the show balanced. Not too much discussion and not too much goofiness. Just the right amount of each.
For next week, you guys should have a White Castle (or Crystal) eating contest. Who can devour 5 burgers the fastest?
I wish White Castle existed in Canada. Those things look so good. Those itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in your mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one….
Did you know Harold and Kumar was filmed primarily in Toronto? Ironic.

Unfortunately I really didn’t like episode 1, it was all too wacky and zany for my tastes. But I thought this was a big improvement, longer discussion segments without constantly cutting away.
I hope you continue to refine the show until you’ve got something that can live up to the old Red Show.
I appreciate Lono isn’t coming back to the show but I really think you need a more straight faced counterpoint to your two, so maybe you can find someone else.
Anyway, I guess right now I’m not totally with you on the new direction for the show but I will continue to listen and see how it develops. Maybe I will eventually unsubscribe but right now I’ve got enough patience to see how it all pans out.

A huge improvement from last week!
I wasn’t really liking the first episode, but this one I rather enjoyed, good job!
It looks like you are finding a good balance from comedy and discussions, which is the main problem I (and I think most others) had with the first one.
The only thing I’m not too into, is the 15 seconds of fame thingy. I can see you want to involve the community more, but this is just wrong. The soundclips are boring for just about everyone else than the person talking. Not that its anything wrong with that though.. I just think you should replace it with something else, like questions.
Rather then a “you’re listening to SGR, blah blah blah” or “I only have 15 seconds to talk so I *cut*”, you could have questions sent in by the community.
“Hello this is from . Question for Doc: What is your best moment in gaming? out!”
I think that would be much better for all of us, it would be entertaining for everyone, and people know what to say when they send their voiceclips, so it doesn’t end up with mumbling without meaning.
And jeez, if you listen to the thumb-wrestling part, the part with only the grunts and “almost had you there” and “you’re greasy”, without knowing it’s thumbwrestling, then it sound so, so, so very wrong…
Good effort. At least your trying. Let’s see……..nope, can’t think of any other way to try and be postitive.
I liked this one a lot more than last weeks, for some of the same reasons mentioned above. Less chaos, more game discussion. It felt more ‘balanced’. Great show.

no doubt better than the 1st, more talk about games, a gud balance of the silly stuff and the gaming related stuff. Theres still 1 major element missing though, u guys really need a 3rd member 2 join the podcast even if u bring in guests untill u feel u’ve found sum1 who goes with urself and dave but imo thts wht is needed. Plz poatch sum1 off another podcast, Nate Ahern, drew or alex u get my point.

I enjoyed the last one, and found this one is even better.
I’d like to echo some people on here though about adding a 3rd person, the banter just works so much better that way.
Maybe mix it up and get a female hardcore gamer on, it works for Podcastle
Where is the Dave take us out? That was the best part of the old show and should continue into the new one. I want Dave take us outs!

I thought it was a great improvement over the last episode, the show was easier to follow and listen too plus it actually had gaming talk. Glad to see you guys working this out and I am sure it will only get better from here. Keep it up guys.

yes, yes, yes this is the way of the new show. this was 100 times better than the last show. this is the way it was meant to be, the perfect balance of video talk and nonsense, not to over the top but at the same time not to serious. im glad i stuck around to listen, keep up this good work and keep for that perfect sweet spot.

This was great – though I loved the first ep too
The opening was hilarious and there were some great jokes, though I don’t think I dig the parody song (I’m not sure what the original tune is from)

good episode guys. While I liked the first episode as well, I, like others, am glad to see a bit more video game discussion in the second episode.
Jordan, the song they used as background music is called “Because I got High” by Afroman.
Here’s to hoping the third episode is as good as the first two.
Huge improvement. A much better balance between discussion and randomness, and a lot of the jokes seemed far less forced and were all the funnier for it (I loled hard at SHAAAAANNEE).
I’m not sure about the previously/next time bits, though. I just don’t find them very funny.
I’m also wondering if the Doc vs. Dave segment will ever have a competition remotely suitable for radio >_>
And finally, I’m kind of feeling heartache at the loss of martini time, a tradition that I loved dearly (despite having no idea as to its origins).
’nuff said.
Much better show then last week guys, still a few things you could do to improve though, First and most importantly get a third person!!! Besides that just a few things really like maybe if you could play music (quietly) while you talk (one of the things I liked about the first episode!) and maybe cut back on the 15 seconds of fame and have some different (shorter) sections like a SG website news catchup or something…

How are games ever going to be taken seriously if everyone keeps saying ”It’s just a game?”
People should consider gaming as a means to tell a story. 6 days in falujah could be a great opportunity to tell the story of a soldier who doesn’t agree with the war.
Instead you encourage the developer to make just an ordinary shooter… HOW IS THAT HELPING THE INDUSTRY?
Go play some GOW and leave podcasting for people who actually want gaming to grow.
