Those hoping for a bit more breathing room between the releases of inFamous and Prototype just got their wish. While Radical Entertainment’s carnage-filled title is still expected to launch on June 9 (June 5 in Europe), it seems that Sucker Punch Productions’ latest game will ship to North American retailers sooner than expected.
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, inFamous will be available in the U.S. starting May 26. Asad Qizilbash, marketing manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America, also wrote that gamers can expect a demo to pop onto the PlayStation Network on May 21 (though those who reserve the game from an unspecified retailer will be able to access the playable preview on May 7). Other pre-order goodies include Cole’s “Gigawatt Blades” power and a Reaper gang outfit for use in Home. GameStop is offering the former, which “supercharges Cole’s arm into an instrument of destruction unmatched by any other melee weapon in game.” Sounds damn cool; looks even cooler.
inFamous is an open-world action game being developed by the aforementioned Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the popular Sly Cooper series. In it, you play as Cole, a normal guy who has recently been granted electricity-based super powers. After a rather nasty explosion, which originated from the package Cole was carrying, he awakes to find Empire City in chaos as rioters and thugs have taken to the streets in the wake of the carnage. With bedlam all around you, you must decide how to use Cole’s new abilities. Will you play the part of savior, or be a wicked villain? The choice is yours, but your actions will determine not only how the virtual population reacts to you, but also which powers are available to you.
As someone who has been salivating over inFamous for quite some time, I welcome this news with open arms. In fact, prior to writing this article, I ran ten miles, purchased a llama, constructed a suspension bridge over the Ohio River, and annexed a large section of Nepal for the United States. Seriously, I am hyped for this game. Sucker Punch’s latest title is certainly a departure from the cel-shaded graphics and anthropomorphic cast of the Sly Cooper franchise, but I have an extreme amount of faith in the Bellevue-based team.

Wow. I’ve not been following the game as close as I should’ve been because it was still a month and a half away. Now, I’m wanting to visit the annexed part of Nepal with you. Way to raise my hopes and expectations.

That is what I do.
I’m concerned about the llama thing… did you post this? http://is.gd/sdKj
