Five wondrous creatures sit in a semi circle before a massive Oak tree in a secluded valley far beyond the reach of mortal man. So much more than simple beasts, the five creatures, and yes, even the tree itself, are the living avatars of the myriad of deities in the Gaming Pantheon. The Oak tree, called the Great Computer by some, Father PC by others, is the patron of the Gaming Gods, and he has called his children together to settle for once and all, who is the greatest among them.
The truth shall be revealed after you take a leap of faith!
“In the beginning, there was only me.” The great Oak tree, Father PC, tells his children. “My roots stretch across this world. I was the herald of this new age. You all grew from the seeds which fell from my branches. Though my power is vast, even I cannot claim to be the Supreme Lord of Video Games. Though I came first, and still revel in the beauty that is gaming, video games are simply one of the many paths I must follow. It is up to you, my children, to reach an accord; to choose who among you will rule.”
A great red lion, the avatar of the Xbox 360, proudest and youngest of all the Gaming Gods, spoke first: “I am the greatest of your children! When I first made my presence known to mankind, as the original Xbox, I struggled hard to earn my place. Now none can contest my dominance! My followers play on a system which has the best games, the best ways for my followers to congregate, and the best graphics for the price! Among your children, you and I work the best together. I implore you, father, choose me!”
Father PC speaks with a voice filled with power, but also pride and no small amount of trepidation. “It is not for me to choose my son. You and your siblings must choose, and choose wisely. A casual darkness stretches across the horizon…a great battle approaches and you will need to work together if you wish to survive.”
The avatar of the PS3, a great blue panther, spoke next. “My brother has always liked to hear himself roar. I am the greatest among us! My third incarnation, the PS3, is the strongest yet. None here can question that my previous form, the PS2, continues to this day to dominate the world. I have fewer followers as a PS3, true, and my system does cost the most, but my followers have my power at their fingers tips! Has the great lion given his followers the magic of the Blu-Ray? I have. Does he allow his followers to enjoy all his wonders for free? I do. Does my system die from too much use by my followers? No it does not. I should be chosen!”
“Better to be a comet, which burns bright before it dies, entertaining the world for a short time, than be lonely symbol of decadence, enjoyed by only a few, brother.” The great lion, the Xbox 360, replies.
“You really suck, you know that right?” The avatar of the PS3 replies.
“Bite me, douche bag.” The Xbox 360 lion retorts.
“Brothers…brothers…please, we are all family, we need not fight amongst ourselves!” Who has stepped forward? Find out over the page…
