Would anyone pay(ne) for Max Payne on 360?

Drip…drop…drip…drop…

You hear that? It’s the ESRB news tap, leaking news again. You’d think someone would stick a bucket under there, eh, or at least call a half decent plumber. We shouldn’t complain though — in my eyes the more leakage the better — because some  succulent chunks of  news have arrived, this time regarding Rockstar’s eponymous shooter, Max Payne.

With the recent (albeit uncovered by Sarcastic Gamer – SarcasticGamer.com, your no. 1 gaming resource!) announcement of Max Payne 3, some speculated that Rockstar would re-release the first two games in the series. Thankfully, it looks like they’re going to, with a recent ESRB listing for Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne on the Xbox 360 that throws the notion of a Max Payne re-release out of the realms of speculation and into the sphere of near-certainty.

Sony fans will be disappointed though, with no mention of a Playstation 3 release, suggesting that Microsoft has obtained yet another moreish slice of exclusive Rockstar downloadable content. There’s no word of a release date, but with Max Payne 3 launching this Winter, it would make a lot of sense to get the first two games out before then.

I for one would certainly like to visit the Max Payne games, not only for their wonderfully named protaganist, but also because I’ve never played a game in the series. However, for those who have already taken a trip through the games, would you consider endeavouring to do so again?

Meh… I’ve played the games and I probably wouldn’t bother paying again to play the same game. Honestly, I’m not sure I’d jump for Max Payne 3. It would really need to be unique.

When it first came out it was the new hotness that every game wanted to copy. Now, it’s kinda old gameplay. Bullet-time isn’t going to wow me like it did the first time around. So, I’m not sure I’m going to care much.

If you’ve never played the games, for sure, give them a shot.

If youve never played the games but want to play the new one, then it would make sense to play the first two, and if they’re at a nice price then it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.
