We all love Rock Band DLC. I mean, how could you not love it, if not for the quality, but the sheer QUANTITY! Every week, the Rock Band song library grows, adding new genres, new artists, and sometimes new albums that coincide with the street date. If there were a model for music game DLC, I’d imagine it looking something like this. Fair prices, constant updating, and the willingness to delve into genres for content that no other human soul would ever consider.

Content like Spongebob Squarepants.

I thought it was an April Fools joke, but apparently it’s not. This week, Rock Band will receive 7 new tracks for download – 4 individual tracks and a 3 pack from Spongebob Squarepants. Don’t fret just yet, the 4 individual tracks are quite good, and one of them is one I’ve been waiting for ever since I first took up my plastic axe.

I know many people still think this is an April Fools joke and that the Spongebob tracks won’t be released. That certainly is possible, but I’m more in the camp of the people who think they’re releasing these songs in the spirit of April Fools day. I know the tracks won’t be huge sellers and the hardcore fans will turn up their noses to them, but it’s all in good fun. Plus, I bet they have some of the most interesting note tracks of any songs released to this date.
