      Only one complaint… PC is NOT dying. It’s shifting to a primarily download market.

      But I do agree… as a PC gamer, just like any other REAL gamer, we need to try to be inclusive and help the new guy along and to feel welcome.

      I am the ranter for this episode and maybe I am elitist. I don’t play console games at all, even though my kids have a 360. So, I’m a little defensive about my hobby and the platform that I prefer. I’m sorry if PC gaming is a little more complicated than on the consoles. It’s not my fault, that there has to be system requirements on the bottom of every box. That’s the way it’s always been. And it’s never going to change. I’m just tired of people wining about it when their POS “Office” computer won’t play the games they want to play, when they didn’t take the time to read those requirements. As I said, PC gaming takes a little effort on your part. The internet is filled with websites and forums that will gladly help you choose the best pc gear. And you don’t know me enough to say I’m not inclusive. I help people all the time, get into pc gaming. I’m always telling people how to upgrade their computer to get the best bang for the buck.
      As far a PC gaming, dieing… While great, Steam and Valve are not the savior. PC gaming survived through DOS. It was really complicated then, compared to what we have now. Go back and play those games and then tell me PC gaming is too hard now.

      I think PC gaming is more of an investment than an exercise in difficulty. Not everyone makes a large income and can spend over $250-$300 per year on hardware. That, I believe is the sustainability barrier in the PC gaming market.

      I wholeheartedly admit that purchasing a PC that’s ‘good enough for now’ is rather easy and inexpensive. But the pervasive rate at which hardware becomes obsolete complicates the accessbility of the PC gaming market.

      I haven’t listened to the show yet but I will throughout the day. I think that is the argument against PC gaming. I, believe that the PC gets every AAA release and it should be that way.

      @Chris

      My biggest thing with your rant is the words you chose to use. When you say that someone “doesn’t deserve” to play PC games, it makes you sound like an elitist and that you don’t believe they should be helped.

      I will agree that I do not know you, but all I have to go off of is what you say in your rant, and that dictates my response. You could be helpful, hell, you could be the most helpful person in the world, but when I hear the words “don’t deserve,” it ticks me off and always has. It makes it seem that PC games are the cream of the crop (which they could very well be, playability wise) and that its some sort of status symbol for the people who play them.

      They’re just games! These aren’t golden shoes, Bently’s, or gigantic houses.

      It takes a lot to actually anger me, so to do this show, I kind of have to single out some words or phrases and amplify my indignation towards them. And, whereas, you may not be in the faction of people I called out…there are people out there like that. You just happened to be the scapegoat I used, because of the terminology you used.

      If I offeneded, I apologize, but…when you rant about things, you are going to offend some people. I’m comfortable with that.

      My indignation is toward the person who doesn’t want to make the effort. And thinks it’s their right to be able to. If my neighbor spends time and effort to make his lawn look good… Puts fertilizer, plants flowers, edges the walks, etc. Do I have any right to complain to everyone else about my lawn looking like crap, compared to his? No! I only ran my unsharpened, worn out mower and called it a day. I dont’ deserve to have as nice a looking yard as him. I didn’t make the effort. So, when I say they don’t deserve to play PC games, they don’t, because they didn’t put in the required effort to a do so. Anyone who wants a to play a game that “just works”, is looking at the wrong platform. PC gaming has never been know for that. And it’s not going to change anytime soon. Steam hasn’t helped in this area either.
      There’s a lady I know, who’s grandson plays on her computer, when he comes over to visit. She refuses to spend any money on hardware. It has intigrated Intel graphics. She decided to buy GTA4 through Steam, so he could play when he was there. Did Steam save her from the fact that her PC was crap for games?
