Thanks to the suggestion of some community members, I downloaded the Peggle demo from Xbox Live Arcade. Within 10 minutes I knew I had to have the entire game. Was the real deal worth the points? Keep reading to get the full scoop on this release byPopCap Games.

Peggle is definitely my kind of game.  First I played through the single player adventure.  The objective is to shoot balls at an arrangement of colored pegs aiming for the orange ones.   You get 10 balls to use to clear the board of all the orange pegs.  Each board you clear opens up a new character with a unique ability.  My favorite character is Master Hu the owl who uses his zen ball to improve your shot through the power of mindfulness!

The graphics in the game are beautiful.  Every board is different and pretty to look at!  When you clear a board a rainbow appears and Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” plays.  It makes me so happy! Every time I cleared a level, my five year old and I danced to the music and high fived each other.  It’s just so damned exciting!  I finished all 55 levels in less than 48 hours.  This has to be one of the most addicting games I have ever played.  I couldn’t stop!

After I finished the Master Level of single player (don’t be a hater, you’re just jealous), I tried out the multiplayer functions.  I even played in an online party with Harlequin.  (She lost, as I expected)

I am twice the Peggler than Harly.

It may take away all of street cred by admitting this, but seeing as I don’t have much street cred..here it goes.

One of my favorite parts of the game is reading the messages that appear while it is loading:  Sending good vibes, creating awesomeness, playing with yarn, hoping this works, achieving oneness, preparing the rainbows, adjusting ode to joy volume.  They make me smile!

For 800 MS points, I highly recommend Peggle to anyone who is looking for a fun, colorful, addicting and happy game to play!

Good review Lesley! Sounds like you really enjoyed it.

There’s so much craze over peggle and I still don’t understand it, looking at the image I think I understand it less then before haha.

I bought this after hearing you mention it on the podcast…. SO VERY ADDICTIVE.

I liked it so much I bought it for my sister in law yesterday – I got a call from my brother today; they were so involved with the game they didn’t get to bed until 4AM!

Excellent review Lesley! Your review has made me want this game even more, unfortunately I only own a PS3. I have read that Peggle is coming to the PSN, hopefully it is sooner than later.

…I have to agree, actually… it is fun… they made a Halflife themed version for steam as a freebie. Maybe I should put that back on Hex…..

You omitted the part that I lost because my 5 year old was climbing on me at the time and pulling at my ankles, and how conveniently you forgot I won two games as well! But a win is a win and you have definitely found your game :)

By the way, I recall you stated on our show you had a thing for the unicorn!

I downloaded the game too after hearing how awesome you guys thought it was. I think Xbox Live Arcade should sponsor the Pink show with the number of games we talk about for them.

I gotta say I got this game for my ipod and it makes the bus rides so much sweeter

      Great Review Lesley!
