I want to know what Lono thinks of the new DLC for Fallout 3. I finnished it a couple of hours ago and i thought that it was too quick. Its only like a couple of quests and the actual area you travel to is tiny.
PS I got it on PC not 360
I’ve vowed to not play any more DLC until the level cap is raised.
About the RE5 comments, i don’t think it is racist, but the misrepresentation of africa was really misplaced, I am from Africa and I know what it looks like. I just seems to me that They never been to Africa to at least base it on something, like the FarCry guys did. Parris talked of this on the latest episode of Uncle gamer, and I agree with what he said. If you are going base you fictional setting on a real setting at least do some research and don’t misrepresent it.
i think that what you gentlemen are failing to understand is that people DID complain about GTA and people DO complain about the way women and gays are portrayed in games. i find it odd that you, as a gaming journalist, have forgotten about these things. rather than forgetting about the conversation of race to get to fun things why not see this as an opportunity to open a dialogue within the gaming sphere?
also, yes…it is weird that you have not read heart of darkness. it is easy to miss things associated with racism, or anything at all, if you are ignorant to the subject. there is a red and white mushroom in lbp. i looked at my little cousin once and pointed it out as a mario reference. since she is too young to have ever played the original game she had no idea what i was talking about but knows who mario is.

@pokeystaples: First off, who complained about GTA IV’s depiction of women and gays? I know we did, or at least I did, but who else did?
Second, although I haven’t read Heart of Darkness, I am an educated person and know of the iconography that people are referring to. To call me ignorant is, in and of itself, ignorant.
@Blackflash: I’ve heard differing opinions on the depiction of Africa. Some have said that it does “look” similar and some have not. I don’t know if Parris has ever been to any part of Africa, but at least acknowledge that it is a Continent and not a country, so there could be many possible ways to portray a fictional African town and it’s people.

no mention of open dialogue? come on, man. if anything the fact that people are seeing something there does not mean that they are being overly sensitive. maybe they are just looking for a reason to talk about a subject that doesn’t get a lot of light in gaming. when two black coaches played in the super bowl it was news and it was an outlet to discuss why in this day and age it is such a big deal to have two men of color coaching a sport filled with men of color.

I listened to the podcast you were talking about and thought it was a thoughtful discussion. did I agree with everything that was said? no. I still think that something can be said for discussing race/sexuality in gaming.
I don’t think I was hostile at all, although I didn’t care for your choice of words in describing me and other people that did not attribute the images in RE5 as being derogatory toward people of color.

Open a dialogue about what exactly? I think, if you’ve listened to us regularly, we’ve been pretty good about making our thoughts known about many topics on the issues you’ve been alluding to…
you got me. i’m an SG n00b. i’ve only been listening for a little over a month or so. i heard you call another podcast out about something you didn’t agree with and it seemed as though you were demeaning the fact that something was seen that you did not see. i wanted to respond to that. what it boils down to, in my eyes, is just because you don’t see something doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.
i hope that in the future i get a chance to hear some of your insights on seemingly controversial topics and gaming in general.
