The rumored DJ Hero video game will indeed be released in 2009 as confirmed by Activision Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick, this weekend at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
To think that gaming was even a topic of discussion at an economic forum goes to show you the power of the gamer.
Not a lot of details have been released about the game so far. According to Kotick, the game features, “a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs.” World famous DJs Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold had in the past been rumored as participating in the development of the game.
I hope it features two Technics 1200/1210 turntables, a mixing board, microphones and headphones that have rotating ear cups for the complete wiki-wiki-wah! feel.
I wonder what the next incarnation of these games are going to be? Perhaps, Doc’s long desired Rock Band: Country, or maybe they’ll go the classical route and release Orchestra Hero complete with string, bass, woodwind and percussion sections!

Mixmaster mike what you got to say?
God damn that DJ made my day.
Hey…I’d love a Rock Band Country version..what’s wrong with that?? LOL
Is gamestop taking Pre-Orders already? I need to go stand in line.
I predict EPIC FAIL.
Orchestra Hero. One can only dream. What I wouldn’t give to play my Piccalo over XBL.
I hear ya’ Ch1cken X, I actually would LIKE to see an Orchestra Hero. And while I’m dreaming, maybe a Jazz Hero.
Sadly, I doubt my musical preferences will make it in the mainstream…
ANGERFIST!!
oh and Combichrist and DJ Caffeine would be sick
wouldn’t buy it but maybe one of my friends would be stupid enough
I read Kojins comment as “Maybe a Jax Hero”
Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to hook up your own instruments and play with people all over the world as an online orchestra? I still have my clarinet from High School. Who wants to design the game with me?
I’ll join with the cello. Jax will be the Lead Designer, Kojin will do graphics and Ch1cken will be programmer and I will map the notes and persuade composers to let us use their music. Oh wait…
