Killzone 2 won’t be released until February 27th. The North American press embargo lifted today, unleashing a slew of reviews onto the information superhighway. For the most part, the reviews have been outstanding. The user scores, on the other hand aren’t very good.
Wait a second? How could there be user reviews if the game isn’t out yet? More nonsense after the jump.
I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that there are actually people in the world that bash a game because of the system it’s on, or the website that allows it. Yep, from the morons that brought you the 3 out of ten score for Gears of War 2 and LittleBigPlanet, comes the latest reviews for Killzone 2.
Even though the game has a Metacritic score of 95, the “users” think that the game is really a 6.3. While that isn’t a bad score, per se, I’ve got to ask: Why do they allow users to put scores up for a game that isn’t even out yet? What does Metacritic gain by allowing that?
Surely it’s not page views. Metacritic does quite well in that area, and the user reviews only account for maybe a few hundred out of the hundreds of thousand page views that the website gets on a daily basis.
Maybe they allow users to put up user reviews because it generates controversy. It creates articles like this one talking about Metacritic and ….. Dammit.
Maybe they don’t have a way to turn user reviews off for games that have reviews, but aren’t out yet. Who knows, but this ridiculousness has got to stop. To the fanboy morons that are bashing Killzone 2 because it’s a Playstation 3 exclusive, guess what, you’ve just confirmed that you have no life, but you already knew that. Well, guess what, now the rest of the world knows too. To Metacritic, fix this problem. It’s just plain stupid to allow user reviews for a game that isn’t even out yet.
Here’s the link, just in case I hadn’t written enough about Metacritic. Please don’t be a moron.

People are morons, It will only increase in the years to come. Here’s to a bright future!… Well… Sort of.
AHHH this really annoys me people voting on games that aren’t even out yet i makes me want to shout at someone.
These people are Idiots
~Billy from the fourms
not only is it just pathetic, its bad for any people who are a little clueless and consider getting it.
they might think that the game is bad and not get it just because the internet is home to the biggest children in the world
Lono’s right, anyone who rates a game 0 or something just because it’s an exclusive really does have no life. That’s one of the reasons why you just can’t trust user reviews. Most people write helpful and rational reviews, but there’s still a big amount of people who just keep embarassing themselves, and the image of gamers as a whole by posting stupid reviews.
1) Im not shocked.
2) Once again they are not even entertaining me, since no one actually WROTE A REVIEW.
3) At least some of them are more likely doing this now because of the attention it got last time, and yukking it up (I mean that to be the sound heard, btw) like the retards there are.
Conclusion: Useless idiots, as always, and never trust a review number… read what they say… always.
Althought i agree with u, u should do some researech before writing an article…if u want to be at least litle profesional in writing articles…it isnt more than week since i read interview with metacritic admin who said they r going to complete change user rating, because they know about this problem, user will have to do many thing to be able rate game and because of that people who will want to bash game will not fing worthy…i wont search for original link , cause i dont have time for that…but thats how it is…so put down that fire on the roof…cause there is no reason for it now
@Santa Claus: the link speaks for itself. the user reviews are still there and it is NOT fixed…
These people (user reviewers) really are morons. I’m glad to see the PS3 finally have some *great* games to go along with the *good* ones. Hate on the PS3 for the right reasons people! If this game is really that good, let it show in the reviews.
I agree Lono, and I’ve said for a LONG time that Metacritic is inherently broken.
I don’t see why Metacritic don’t just disable user reviews until the release date. It makes no sense.
A lot of web Content Management Systems today will allow you to put in scripts that will hide certain features or information until a certain date & time. Even if their CMS isn’t that advanced, it’s obvious from the page source they’re using a LOT of javascript. It’s not hard to write a custom script that checks the date & time and then replaces the class selector from “hidden” to “display” at midnight on 27 Feb 2009.
Well because of the rage coming from people around the net, the word Metacritic get mentioned a lot, so guess it does do something for them not in a good light perhaps, but still gets attention either way.
Its already being done with Halo Wars too. Over 100 ratings, and its at a .6 . Even overhauling the system and changing things will not make a difference. There is nothing the extremist fan boy will not do in the flame wars. Sadly they do not realize that it has close to no effect in the grand scheme of things since most consumers are not blog reading comment fighters.
I can easily see where the problem is. They’re the type of site in which the only way to post a comment is to post a review.
If they would just separate the two, have a button for people to post comments and a different one for reviews, then the whole friggin problem is solved…
Well, there will STILL be idiots that give it a low review without playing…but at least Metacritic could say they TRIED.
