Johnny Platform’s Biscuit Romp is Tasty

For 200 points I scored Johnny Platform’s Biscuit Romp out of the Xbox Live Community Games tab.  Please heed this warning.

This game is simple, blocky, straightforward, and more fun than a lot of games I’ve paid 4 times the points for.  Fully caffeinated biscuit action straight ahead, over the jump.

The premise of the Johnny Platform’s Biscuit Romp is pretty simple.  Collect cups of coffee and get through the exit.  Through addictive double jumps and an insidious puzzle scheme, the game kept me thinking I was awesome all the way up to the point where I realized I had been suckered by a brilliant designer.  Though now stuck somewhere in the thirties I find myself coming back to this game for more punishment a lot lately.

Its a testament to the fact that a good game is a good game is a good game regardless of slick production, fancy packaging, or even innovative gimmicks.  This game offers literally nothing new and yet grabs your attention and keeps it until it smacks in the face and calls you an idiot.

If you’ve got a few scrap points laying around your XBL account after you get suckered into buying 1000 points just to get an 800 point title, I really don’t see how you could go wrong supporting this little gem with the scraps.

I totally agree that “a good game idea” beats out production values every time. I myself picked up that “Interpol: Hunt for Dr.Chaos” game over the weekend, and put aside Fable 2 and Fallout 3 for many an hour while this simple object-finding game kept me hooked. I’ll check this one out for sure.

That’s exactly how I felt about The Maw on XBLA. I would like the see Johnny Platformer’s Biscuit Romp on a handheld. Maybe DS. If not, maybe downloadable on Zune.
