Those of you who were eagerly anticipating waging epic sieges against various guild-like societies without a monthly fee will be disappointed to know that Guild Wars 2 is not going to make it’s stated release window. Granted, some of you make have already deduced that, given that said release window was “second half of 2008″, but at least we now have all the facts on the table.

Well, not all the facts, because some of them are after the jump.

The reasons for the delay are unclear but, given that the information was found within one of NCsoft’s financial reports, it’s unlikely to be wrong.

Despite NCsoft seeing a 5% increase in sales year-over-year, it suffered a 40% drop in net profit last year. The Guild Wars series is developed by ArenaNet, a studio that’s part of NCsoft’s consolidation of its North American and European subsidiaries, a consolidation that has resulted in 70-90 employees being layed off. It’s possible that this could have had some factor on the delay.

Sorry MMO fans. Looks like you’ll have to pay per month for at least another year.

Pay per month sucks big time, imagine how many people would still actually PLAY bf2 if that was pay per month?

Probably a bad example as EA havent actually done anything to support the game in about 15 years mind you.
