Y’know how sometimes you just have a bad day. Maybe the photocopier was broken, or the canteen was only serving beef stroganoff. You’re in a bad mood, and if someones dares to probe you with even the simplest of questions, you respond in a physically violent manner shouting “Shut up you worthless individual! Shut up!”

Well maybe that’s just me, but someone at Sony evidently got up on the wrong side of bed, when they responded to IGN’s PSP 2 rumour in a sarcastic manner.

Oh, you want to see the response? You’ll have to hit the jump for that kind of luxury.

When IGN ran a rumor, backed by “several credible sources”, about a PSP successor that boasted a multi-touch interface, Sony responded in style.

“Clearly, being a quiet time of year, many, what we thought to be credible websites, are making up stories about PSP2, and how it allows you to teleport across the globe, travel through time, and will be powered by the horns of baby rhinoceroses.

Hopefully, you can sense a mild tone of sarcasm, which should hopefully indicate how ‘on the money’ IGN are. Needless to say, we don’t comment on rumor or speculation, but this is nonsense.”

Hey, I thought we were the sarcastic ones around here!

    Awesome.
Nice to see a corporation with a sense of humor.

    I want one now.

    A) How can they say they don’t comment on rumors…. if no, what is this?

    B) I like how the things they say the PSP2 does are all patently impossible. As if they think it would be impossible to create a game device with multi-touch.

I think that Sony sarcasm is kinda like when your dad makes an OK joke, that isn’t really expected, and it is kinda funny, but not really, and after a small chuckle, you sit in uncomfortable silence wondering who will break the silence first by changing the subject…

Nice for Sony to absolutely drive the nail in in that way though. It makes a change from the usual diverting around the issue drivel that companies tend to give when questioned about unannounced products that have been rumoured to already be in production.

Hey, that beef stroganoff would boost my mood. Also, if the PSP2 will let me travel through time, I want one, don’t care about any of the other stuff.

IGN is never on the money.

I’m shocked that people here actually believed the rumor.
