CES 2009 is as amazing as it is overwhelming. So much to see, so little time. After stumbling through CES like a little kid in wonderland, I finally made it to my first “must see” station: Resistance Retribution. With the release list for the PSP this year looking rather small, I definitely wanted to get my hands on what will most assuredly be one of the biggest titles for the PSP and to check out the PSP to PS3 connectivity that promises to provide Resistance fans with something never seen before.
Check out my impressions of Resistance: Retribution after the jump!
The very first thing I noticed about R:R was how good it looked. On par with the high quality graphic standard God of War: Chains of Olympus created, R:R looks polished on the PSP (unconnected to a TV). It had a solid frame-rate and few glitches. However, the station was set up to show off R:R’s ability (PSP Connect) to connect to a PS3 via USB, if you own Resistance 2, and play R:R on your TV using a PS3 controller and the ability to “infect” your PSP. Dual analog FTW!!!
Granted blown up on the big screen the picture quality becomes less than stellar, but the ability to use the PS3 controller to play more than makes up for that believe me. I was not able to play the game using the PSP itself but I spent a good half hour playing R:R with the PS3 controller (rumble included) and found the controls responsive and easy to use. If you’ve played previous Resistance games you’ll have no problem jumping into battle.
Sony Associate Product Manager Christian Cardona was kind enough to let me pick his brain as well as show off some of the unique features of R:R. Read all about them over the page!
