All aboard! It is time to jump on the hype train. That is right folks, it’s yet another Helghast-infused post. In addition to yesterday’s news, I just wanted to share the lastest “Killzone 2″ trailer. The video, which is embedded below, is the game’s opening cinema. There are lots of guns and explosions, so it should please FPS fans. It also features voice work from Hollywood’s Brian Cox. Did you know that he played William Stryker in “X2″? He was also in “Braveheart.” Yea, the dude is pretty awesome.
Footage courtesy of Gametrailers:
As I have said before, I am not a huge fan of first-person shooters. However, that video got my blood pumping. Initially, it made me pine for an assault rifle and some real-world combat. Then I saw what happened to the unfortunate invaders. Yea, I think I will just storm virtual battlefields from the comfort of my couch. I am kind of a wuss; I can’t imagine what I would do if bullets were whizzing past my head. Actually, I would probably run away screaming like a frightened child, but that is neither here nor there.
Though there are some notable exceptions, the shooter genre isn’t known for producing thought-provoking narratives. “Resistance 2″ was tremendous fun, but the story was as exciting as three-day-old oatmeal. “Gears of Wars 2″ was clearly written by an individual who simply regurgitated his Alpha-Bits cereal all over a table. However, it appears that “Killzone 2″ was heavily influenced by real-world issues. The U.S.-led conflicts in the Middle East immediately come to mind. The ISA Special Forces seem confident that they will dominate the Helghast on their own turf, but, as the footage shows, the Helghast are more than ready for a fight.
Congratulations Guerrilla Games. You have sold me on this game. Is it Feb. 27 yet?
For those still on the fence, feel free to check out our coverage of the game from CES 2009. Also, a demo will be appearing on the North American PSN on Feb. 26. Those who pre-order the game from GameStop in the U.S. will get early access to that playable preview.
If you aren’t interested in “Killzone 2,” then take some time to check out the rest of our CES coverage. Though, if you weren’t interested in Guerrilla Games’ handsome shooter, then you wouldn’t have clicked on this story. Thus, you wouldn’t be reading this paragraph. It seems that I am wasting precious seconds on this unnecessary text that few will read. Therefore, to reward those still scrolling, I present this link. No need to thank me.
