patapon2

It’s no secret that Patapon is one of my favorite games for the PSP. My inner monologue is actually just the Patapon song repeating over and over again. Dismissed as “kiddy” by many at first (yours truly included), Patapon 1 proved to be one of the “must own” titles for the PSP an its sequel is one of the most anticipated PSP releases of 2009. After discovering just what Patapon 2 was going to bring to the table (twice as much content as Patapon 1), I could not wait to get my hands on the game at this years CES.

Find out my impressions of Patapon 2 and watch our video of the initial boss battle from Patapon 2 after the jump!

Anyone who has played Patapon before is aware that it is a rhythm based game. You guide your troops by hitting the correct buttons in sequence in time with a drum beat. Unfortunately, a massive and insanely crowded conference hall makes it very difficult to hear anything, let alone maintain a rhythm in game.

Visually Patapon 2 looks very similar to Patapon 1. Excluding the new content and features, the gameplay is also pretty much the same. It’s the content that really separates the two. Patapon 2 takes every single thing that was great about the first game, and doubles it. More bosses, more types of Patapon, more levels and more fun!

Associate Product Marketing Manager Charles Lacson was nice enough to put Patapon 2 up on the big screen and show off the first boss battle. His ability to maintain a rhythm so well in the crowded and loud CES conference hall speaks to his Patapon skills.

Patapon 2 looks like it will do exactly what every sequel “tries” to do: keep everything that made the first one great, correct what the fans did not like, and add enough fresh content and features to keep fans coming back for more. After holding Patapon 2 in my hands it was very difficult to actually pull myslef away from the PSP station. I was forced to take a few minutes and play Patapon 1  just to keep my Patapon addiction in check.

FEVER!!!

    • I have been looking for a good game for my PSP for about a year now. I never hear of Patapon, but now I am rather interested in it. If I can find it at my local game shops, I will be sure to pick up a copy. If not, I will wait for the squeal.

This game looks great… Sadly I sold my PSP to get an Xbox 360 Lol. I wish I had played this game when I had the chance… I had Monster Hunter 2, One of my all time favourite games on PSP… And Syphon Filter But after I got bored of those I decided to sell my PSP :D But, I don’t regret it…

@SilverCaboose you need to use the rain miracle, in order to get it go back to one of the first levels (don’t remember which one) and there is a statue is buttons symbols on it, just get close to it and do that combination until the statue rises completely and then it gives you something, i don’t remember if it gives you the miracle or a map to where the miracle is, but thats basically it…

i’ve played the japanese version of patapon 2 and to put it simple… it rocks…
